Good and Simple Supplement To My Existing Soldering Station!
The 6028 Aoyue hot air station is awesome. I would compare it to a weller wes51 in terms of quality and simplicity. The picture does not do it justice and should be updated. My station came with 3 tube nozzles - 5, 7, 9mm tube type (3/16, 1/4, and 3/8") and a 12mm square (5/8") nozzle. The instruction book was comprehensive and very well written but I would really like to see a schematic and parts breakdown. It was well printed. As for performance, I measured 200 degrees celsius at the 200 degree mark and 300 degrees at the 300 degree mark (that was the limit of my Fluke). The chassis has 3 leds, one for power, one for the element heater and one for the fan. When the unit gets to temperature, the element led starts to flicker (indicates the element is going off and on to maintain temperature). The 'Sirocco' fan (aka squirrel-cage fan) is quite and delivers a smooth, hot air stream. If this station is an indication of other Aoyue products, I'll be buying more.

Plastic or glass broke inside nozzle pipe
Mine had some kind of plastic or glass inside the nozzle pipe and it broke during the first time we used it.

The first two were horrible, and an utter waste of money (junk chineesium ...
Finally! My search is over! This is the third different hot air rework station I have purchased from Amazon in a week. The first two were horrible, and an utter waste of money (junk chineesium knock offs). This one, is "solid gold". Does it cost a little more than the others- yes. Does it look different than the others- yes. Does it work- YES. This station embraces the KISS (keep it simple, stupid) philosophy. No unnecessary bells and whistles. No lcd thermometer readout. No frills. Dial in your airflow, dial in your temp...and boom. You ask, it delivers. Additionally the built in cool down feature is nice too. Keeps the thermoshock on the heating element to a minimum to lengthen its lifespan. Not an $1100 rework station, but about the best you can buy under $100.

I follow the manual's suggestion of turning down the heat to prolong life during cool down. The fan control is not smoothly line
I purchased one of these stations four years ago. I repair consumer and industrial electronics and it sees heavy use. It has not failed yet. I follow the manual's suggestion of turning down the heat to prolong life during cool down. The fan control is not smoothly linear but does vary the speed.Skeptical because of price? I was when I purchased mine for $99 four years ago. It hasn't let me down yet
