This book is something else, rarely do you get to pick up a book that you find it hard to put down and this is one of them.There is a lot packed in here and often you have to read the footnotes to check the references out as some of the material is hard to think is from Sunni sources especially Imam Shafi's poetry. The introduction is really useful as I was unaware of many aspects about the different views that the different groups have had about the Prophets family.The book is concise and not overpoweringly academic - it really is very touching and you really feel an intimate connection with the Prophet and his family.I particularly like the inclusion of Ghadir Khum through the eyes of Ibn Kathir and respect the choice of traditional works that are hundreds of years old as opposed to contemporary works that people could have problems with and these classical writers are also respected by the salafi's as well, and it is amazing to read the details.It's hard to understand why there are so many issues between Sunnis and Shiahs when the Sunni literature is so rich in praising the Ahl Bayt and the last section about Imam Mahdi was another eye opener.Highly recommend this and I will be getting some to give as gifts.
