Changed/curved design is a downgrade from the previous version
I bought these stakes in 2016 and loved them. I needed more for a 2nd tent and so I bought them again in 2018. It was clear they've modified the design some since I bought them last from the amazon page, most obviously the curved design. However, what they don't say is the new design is significantly smaller diameter than the prior version. If you put the previous design in calipers they are about .44" in diameter or 0.50" if you rotate it so you get it's widest dimension. The new curved design is only 0.32" or 0.36" at it's widest. That's a HUGE downgrade as far as I'm concerned. Holding power of a state is almost entirely based on the surface area presented to the dirt. The new design is only 72% of the old design. Now, in fairness, the new design only weighs 0.34 oz and the old design was 0.45 oz., so it also only weighs 75% of the old one. And so I guess if you want something that is a light weight for about 2.5 square inches of surface area, this fits the bill. But for me, I will use MSR Carbon Cores that only weight 0.19 oz. with 1.5 sq. in. of surface area if I don't care that much about the area/holding power. I want my "Y" stakes to have over 3.5" of surface area for when I need more holding power. These new ones are in a hole in the middle between ultra-light and higher holding power stakes that I don't find of much value.

Best Tent Stake Ever!
I've been looking for a strong but light stake so I bought these and wanted to test them. I used a 3lb. Hammer and drove my tent stake into a compacted area. Stake went in like a charm and was difficult to pull out.Crushed Stake: NoCreased Stake: Very LittleStake Drove With No ProblemDifficult To Pull Back Out / When Camping Pulls Out Great!Verdict:Super strong stake that was used under abnormal conditions and is still usable. These stakes will definitely surpass expectations!

Light and effective, but need sharpening
I got these for a new backpacking tent. I'd have the MSR mini ground hog stakes for another tent, and I thought I would go with slightly longer ones for the new tent. These are slightly longer than the mini ground hogs, and wider as well. The good part about that is that they potentially have more holding power. However, if you don't sink them all of the way into the ground, then the tent line actually has more leverage on the stake to loosen it in the ground. Also, they weight slightly more than the mini ground hogs. What I am going to do is split up the two sets of stakes, and use these longer stakes for the end lines of the tent that have to tension the vestibule, and use the smaller stakes for the sides. These stakes do not have a sharpened tip like the MSR stakes; I am going to try to sharpen them myself. I think it will make a difference in harder ground (I wouldn't try pounding them with a rock like some people. They won't take that abuse.)

Great quality and not easy to bend, even in very high winds.
The stakes are great quality and stood up well in a 35mph+ wind storm in the desert without bending. But they failed to stay in the ground, so longer stakes were bought to replace...to their credit, most stakes at this length in 35mph+ winds in open desert wouldn't stand a chance. The tops are also a problem in very high wind as the repetitive shaking wore through my guy lines, but again right tool for the job type problem. Overall, I was happy with the build quality and the fact they went into the rocky clay ground quite easily without bending was impressive. Make sure you buy the proper stake for your given needs and you will be fine.

Great stakes!!
In an effort to reduce weight for backpacking, I decided to ditch the heavy stakes that came with it. These saved me almost 11oz. Only titanium is lighter, but cost prohibitive for me at this point. I bought these based on other positive reviews.Pro's:As I said, very light weight.Reflective cord on ends.Multiple colors available to match your tent (in case you're a fashion conscious camper!).Nothed at top. Holds tent loops down very well.Very strong.Con's:None really. But note they will bend if you push too hard at an angle, or hit rocks. They're very strong, but anything will bend/break if you try hard enough.Lou

A+ product
Used these for 1st time this weekend on top of Linville Gorge. I can not see how you could improve them. They are very light, strong and function wonderfully. The wind was super intense so I was worried by the lack of a hook for the paracord leads on my tarp. The little notch seemed like it may not hold but I had zero problems. 50 MPH gusts, that is saying something. I also was happy about being able to use my foot to drive these in. Most stakes will bend. These held up. The bright color and reflective paracord help in recovering them from the ground.

Solid replacement for yellow plastic
We bought these to replace the yellow plastic ones that came with our (Coleman) tent and they are a vast improvement. They go in without the bending and tip-breaking we experienced with plastic, and the cord makes extracting them a shovel-free experience.Downside: the stakes have no hook/prong thing, so your tent loop could slip over the top, but you could use the cord as a tether. Besides that, the nylon cord itself could conceivably be worn and frayed by rubbing against the metal eye, and with no hook, it's easy to imagine being unable to get the stake out of the ground and having to leave it behind.
