Retarded Isn't Stupid, Mom! Revised Edition Paperback – January 31, 1999

I had to read this book for a class and at first I was hesitant, thinking that this book would be more like a mini textbook, but it wasn't. I absolutely loved this book, laughing when Nicole did something that shocked everyone and crying when she had hard times. I loved hearing their story from her mother's perspective, it gave me a new appreciation for parents. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, not only did I learn from this book, but I grew to love the characters in it, hearing all that they have went through and how their lives changed and how they grew as people while the book was being written.

This is a wonderful story written through a mother's eyes. I became very involved in her emotional journey and felt connected to her thoughts and feelings as she watched her daughter's struggles and triumphs over having an intellectual disability. This is a must-read for anyone going into special services.
