UPDATE: I was sent a replacement from the company after I posted my disappointment after the prongs broke on first use. The replacement has a sturdier weld on the second prong and it looks like it will last. I upgraded my rating because I was impressed by the customer service and their quick response.***Broke first time use....grandson coming over and brought out the umbrella...after pushing it into the grass my husband told me the bottom prong was ready to fall off and it did...welding of the fork collapsed.VERY Disappointed! The umbrella was smaller and shorter than I wanted but I was willing to give it a chance. DON'T waste your time or money on this one. I don't understand how it was rated so high..doesn't make sense.

The umbrella was delivered very quickly. Unfortunately, it arrived with a 1/4 inch tear in the umbrella where the fabric rubbed against the pointed metal catch on the shaft of the umbrella. I contacted U-Step and they replied immediately by stating they would be sending out a replacement immediately. That's awesome customer service.The umbrella itself is terrific. It's very lightweight and easy to set up and take down. I've only used it once, but it seems sturdy and is a great product for the price. Casts enough shade for at least two folding chairs. It's perfect for the kids' soccer and softball games and we'll try it out at the beach too.I'm very happy with the umbrella and the customer service.

The U-Step Umbrella is modern proof that necessity truly is the mother of invention. I first heard about this umbrella through a fellow soccer mom. My first question was "but does it work?". (All this said while looking at my sunburned arms). My friend assured me that the U-step was a godsend, and boy was she right!This amazing tool says what it does and does what it says. It plants into the ground and sticks the landing better than any Olympic Gold gymnast. I don't have to fumble, struggle, and look for help to get my umbrella set up anymore.Five stars and big cheers to whomever invented the U-step.I know what I'll be getting my friends and family for Christmas this year!

In all fairness I wish to comment that the company rep for U Step sent me a replacement umbrella at no cost. He apologized for the inferiour product we purchased. The new item seems to be functioning properly...... Thank you.This product was poorly made. The "step" metal support was welded. On the first use, in sand the offset leg collasped. Upon close inspection I notice there was paint on the inside of the weld join. That means there was a weak weld, there should be no opening in a solid weld that paint could enter. Just poor quality production all around.

Replacement product is very functional & quite nice, with quick customer service to send a new one. First one was defective & pole broke off from the stake with the first push down into sand. Defective item replaced quickly with mo hassle. I would have given it a 5 star ecxept for initial glitch. But otherwise I like it a lot.

This is a updated review to my original which was poor due to the step being completely rusted upon receiving the product. The company saw my review and sent me a new one which was perfect! Used it for 7 days at the beach and I could not recommend it enough. So lightweight and so easy to set up. It's football season now for my son so now it will be getting use on the field! I keep it in my trunk all the time because it is so compact and takes up very little room and you never know when you will need a umbrella!!!

3 stars because it didn't last a whole soccer season... While stepping onto the stake to insert it into the ground one prong broke off. Also, I'm not into advertising-their product name was too big and a bit much. Great idea though as it did stay put when others did not! And I was able to sit under it comfortably in my lawn chair! Actually it could cover 2 of us sitting beneath it in lawn chairs!

This works great on dirt fields when we go to our granddaughter's soccer games. Umbrella holds up very well and seems sturdy. You just have to step on the bar to push the two prongs into the ground. When you extract it, simply wiggle it a bit, reach down to grab the bar and pull it.
