Good Quality, Great Price.
I purchased this rod & reel combo for my 5 year old son earlier this month. We’ve just recently had a chance to use it, so I wanted to write a quick review to help others decide on buying or not.Tackle:This combo comes with a little bit of tackle, and they were surprisingly decent. You’re going to want to pick up some small hooks/lures/etc... but this combo will get you fishing right out of the box.Reel:The reel is also adequate. It is made of mostly plastic parts, but it seems to operate well. The drag was a little hard to set at first, but the reel operates as it should. I’m not certain on the durability as I’ve only had the combo a short time, but I don’t see why this reel wouldn’t last a season or two with light usage.Rod:The rod is probably the best part of the package. It’s telescopic (obviously) but super durable. It’s definitley for light action, but you’re just not going to break it unless you’re really being hard on it. The only thing I wish they would have added was an additional section with an eye to keep the line more close to the rod when it’s bent... but this is s minor gripe.Overall:Overall, this is a pretty decent fishing package for the price. My son likes it and it’s super compact to carry around and store. I couldn’t think of any reason to not give it 5 stars. I would recommend giving it a try for light fishing purposes.

Great pole for kids
This is a great option for kids looking to go fishing or as a gift for a child.First, the things I like. It’s telescopic feature is awesome. It is easy to store and transport. Plus kids love to see it open up. The tackle offered as an option is a great addition and value for the money. Your really provided with everything required to start catching fish immediately. A lure, leaders, bobbers, hooks, jig heads, rubber worms and more. Enough tackle to freshwater fish for a variety of species. It’s also lightweight and easy to teach a child how to cast a real fishing pole.Things that I don’t love are that the blue of the rod is a lighter shade than the blue on the reel. The drag held up for my son catching a 3 pound bass, but I am curious if it could support a more substantial fish. Probably won’t need to slog a monster with this pole but I’m curious what would happen if one was to get on the line. All in all great fishing pole that I am considering buying a second one for my daughter. Can’t ever seem to go to wrong with plusinno products.

Not bad but not built to last
This would be a good set for a young child’s first time fishing, especially if you expect to go only a couple times a year. The adult should understand rods & reels because there’s no information included about the proper way to set up or use the rod, reel or tackle. It does come pre-spooled with what seems to be 6 lb mono. From a technical perspective, the rod is very floppy and parabolic, bending at least halfway down with light pressure. It’s fine for small panfish. It does extend easily & lock into place securely, which is something that not all telescoping rods do.The reel is all plastic, and the drag is pretty much completely useless (and LOUD!!). The line guides on the rod are also made with plastic inserts and don’t seem like they’d hold up to being used by a kid for very long. The carrying case is neat, and the little tackle selection was actually really good, including a pretty nice diving crankbait that worked great. Thanks to that crankbait, I did catch three chain pickerel on this setup in less than an hour, and nothing broke.Last thought which I learned the hard way: DON’T mess with the drag unless you like birds nests.

IGNORE THE 4 STARS THIS ROD IS LEGIT
This is one of my better rods and is by far the best telescopic rod I have , and I have a lot of rods.I have the thing paired with a piscifun viper 500 size. The combo kills. 15 pound braid 6 pound fluoro leader. Thing is light as a feather and packs up tight. One of the best telescopic rods I’ve ever used and I’ve used a lot. This goes toe to toe with the kastking blackhawks and it’s outlasted two of those. Telescopic rods will either break on you, their guides will go loose, or they’ll get stuck open. I’ve put my combo (this rod) thru the paces and it has yet to do any of those. I balked at the price too but you’re not buying crap (you’re not buying an ugly stik either).I was fishing off a bridge the other day with a trout magnet. Was 15 feet off the water. Caught a 10 inch smallmouth, rod brought it up. What more could I ask for. Line was seaguar 6lb fluoro with the powerpro mainline. Granted, I handlined the fish most of the way, but the rod handled the fish 3 feet out of the water. No issues. The trout magnet has brought in bigger fish. I routinely catch large pickerel on this rod, and the combo makes it exciting. I’m buying another in the longer size and pairing it with the new kastking kestrel. If this review gets 10 likes I’ll make a video.

Reel is useless, but the rod and tackle is great
The rod is a great beginners rod, and a perfect size for my 4 year old. The selection of tackle is great too, however, the reel is not great. It's very cheaply made with plastic components. The outer gear shield bend under the pressure of the first fish caught (a 2lb blue catfish), causing the gears to pop out of place and jam (I managed to land the fish anyway, bringing a very big smile to a little face). I took it apart and fixed it when we got home, but we couldn't continue the fishing trip. I gave it a mild stress test at home, and I'm certain it will fail again when under the strain of a fish. Consequently, I bought a new and much better reel separately to go with the rest of the kit.

Considering buying more
I bought this for my toddler. It’s perfect size for him. The carrier bag is very storage convenient. I’m glad it is this size. I thought it would be much bigger. The reel is very smooth when reeling. Decent amount of lures. I’ve considered buying one for my S/O and me for when we go biking around too! Very satisfied!

7yr olds first catch
This was the first catch on this rod combo. The shortest length was perfect for my 7yr old. The original line that came on was replaced with berkley 4lb test. Overall I’m pleased with my purchase.Update the reel is all plastic had too replace after 2 uses
