Possibly the best DJ controller available
Please forgive me the long introduction. Please also note I did not buy the controller from Amazon so I wont appear as a "confirmed purchase" but I am genuine. As a DJ, I have been a fan of Pioneer Dj products for over 20 years now.Even knowing I am a House/Techno club DJ, I currently do a fair amount of mobile work where a portable system is often needed - and in the last two years I have been using a DDJ-SX2 running Serato: a wonderful solution, very reliable software with an excellent controller, also by Pioneer. In the last couple of years, Pioneer has been further developing its own DJ software, Rekordbox, to a very high standard, making it extremely appealing - as this is now supported by most gear you find in clubs around the world, namely the new Pioneer's own top of the range NX2 series. The software is intuitive and very easy to use - and now also very stable. The DDJ-1000: Pioneer decides to release a product who's layout highly resembles its NX2 series (both players and mixer), fully integrates with Rekordbox (it also comes with its own licence software), all for a very low/affordable price...For any DJ doing mobile and club gigs this is in my opinion a non brainer, to be honest. This is probably the best controller in the market currently on offer, for so many reasons.Yesterday I had my first gig with it (after taking delivery a day before) and it certainly did not disappoint in any way:The software runs seamlessly with the controller, not a single glitch all night. The layout is intuitive and pleasant to use. The mixer section has its own effects, who do not depend on the software, meaning you can connect extra players or turntables to it and still get the effects. The decks are a joy to use with its job adjustment. I love the fact that all the buttons are pretty much in the same positions as the NX2 series. You develop your memory muscle for the club whilst playing out at any mobile event.Sound quality it also great, I think slightly better than my previous setup with the SX2 with Serato.Only negative point: my unit came with one of tempo sliders feeling a bit stuck at the -6 position. Its wasn't a big deal but you expect all Pioneer per to be absolutely perfect. Upon calling their tech support a very nice guy told me to push it to the other side to adjust its center but that didn't help... I can certainly live with it, it's not a deal breaker as it doesn't affect the unit's performance in any way, apart from not sliding as well as it should.Overall, if you are a DJ and considering this controller, my advise is: go and get yourself one now, you won't regret it!
