(3 Packages) Weco Wonder Shell Natural Minerals (3 Pack), Small - Total of 9 Shells

I put the Wondershell in my 5 gallon tank yesterday. The instructions said put all 3 small shells for a 5 gallon but I instead only used 1 as I will not be doing water changes very frequently if at all due to a self sustaining and heavily planted tank. After 1 day my GH and KH levels went from next to nothing to good. So hopefully that stays consistent and my shrimp and snails get all the minerals they need. So far so good.

I have mystery snails and making sure they have enough calcium in the water is important to ensure their shells don't crack, get weak, or grow poorly. Note - this doesn't excuse not providing a good diet as well! These wonder shells work great. Just drop it in (no they don't get eaten they just release things into the water that help snails and shrimp have strong shells and outer crustacean structures. I burn through these things fast in all of my tanks but they are worth it. Been using them for a long time and never had any issues! HIGHLY recommend.

I started using these in my snail's tank and I have noticed a definite improvement in the quality of their shells as they grow. The water quality is also slightly better after feedings with these. The algae pellets I feed them can sometimes make the water a little cloudy otherwise. I keep African dwarf frogs and ghost shrimp in the same tank and all are doing well and are healthy. I keep live plants in my tank and they still look great too.

My mysteries snails were kind of sluggish so I figured they needed more minerals. I did not research this product before I ordered it, and I followed the directions on the back of the bag…DO NOT FOLLOW THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS! I accidentally ordered the small shells instead of the large shell for my 30 gallon tank, so I figured, I will just throw all of the small shells in there to make up for the large shell…OMG. While yes, my snails were much more active, my KH jumped to 34. It should be like 10. While the shells do what they say, I decided to get a different product from now on so I can better manage my KH.

The media could not be loaded.  I wasn’t sure if the Wonder Shell would have much benefit. I figured my tap water was fairly hard already. Well, my nerite snail used to hide behind a Catappa / Indian Almond leaf in the back of the tank. I never saw him. After I put in the Wonder Shell, he was zooming all over the tank! Now he regularly cleans algae off the front glass. He is very active now. After the first one dissolved, I put in the second Wonder Shell. My snail must have smelled it. He immediately zoomed right over and munched his way over the shell (see video). I have seen my Amano shrimp munch on it too. I am reading Ecology of the Planted Aquarium by Diana Walstad, even though I don’t have a dirt tank. Apparently, studies show calcium ions compete with copper ions, reducing heavy metal uptake in mollusks. So perhaps that is also a benefit?! Now I love getting to watch all my snail’s activity. YAY!!!

My mystery snail got a small crack in her shell somehow. Bought this bc good reviews. Two days after it’s in the tank the crack looks better. Week later it’s only visible bc of slight lighter color shell where the crack was. Amazing!

I’ve been buying these for the aquatic snails in my betta tank for years. The snails love them and they don’t bother the betta fish.

I like using these in my aquarium. They keep the water clear and I feel like they help strengthen my mystery snails' shells, plus keep them healthy. I changed the water conditioner I was using once and my mystery snail's foot became infected (I guess he was allergic to it?). The Internet suggested dropping a Wonder Shell into the aquarium's water to heal it up. Within a few days my snail was better. Snails can't tolerate any meds. I also feel like the Wonder Shells possibly get rid of any excess chemicals my water conditioner may not have caught when I used it the first time to treat my water before adding it to the aquarium. They're just a good product.

Love it, my snails look healthy. Only con is that it is on the pricier side.
