Delightful!
I owned BYE BYE BIRDIE on cassette during my high school years; last year I bought it on CD, and it has since become one of my favorite Broadway cast albums. Susan Watson, Chita Rivera, and the young Dick Van Dyke are delightful to listen to; but the real star here is Charles Strouse and Lee Adams' score -- enhanced by Robert Ginzler's orchestrations -- which ranges aptly in style from swing to ragtime (the iconic "Kids" is a Charleston) to droll '50's-rock parodies ("The Telephone Hour," "Honestly Sincere," "One Last Kiss"). A bright, tuneful, and witty score expertly captured by the great record producer Goddard Lieberson.

One of the Last Great Golden Age Musicals
Hearing this again, it brought back memories of seeing an unknown Dick Van Dyke, a young Chita Rivera in her first starring role, Paul Linde, being hysterical, etc. and Gower Champion's directing/choreographing debut. It was an amazing evening of pure talent and I got to cherish it all over again purchasing the CD, which somehow eluded my collection, although I have the original cast album. After seeing the current revival, it gives so much pleasure remembering what it once was.

You'll Love the Music!
I recently saw the revival of this musical on Broadway, staring John Stamos. It was spectacular! Although a current cast recording is not available the orginal recording is wonderful, because the music and lyrics are wonderful. If you have seen the movie version, you will know what I mean. If you are child of the fifties and/or sixties you will thoroughly enjoy the CD and the DVD. Both are so much fun, that you will "put on a happy face"!

Five Stars
The cd is excellent; however, notice that this is the stage play version. Not the one with Ann Margaret.

I was in the show playing Kim's mom and it helped me with the songs and some words. It 's a great recording of the show.

excellent
I purchased this for students to see before performing the show on stage--it was well liked and created much enthusiasm. Much better than the newer version!

Fun
This a great CD to do housework to. The vocals are amazing. It took me back to when we did the production in High School.
