Small notches have a different form, no Shimano factory thread lock inside. They also came not tuned. Quality is pretty good though, it is really hard to see the difference if you are not specifically looking for that **Q: Are they originals** A: These are original pedals from Shimano. My friend advised me not to buy the lower model and I am glad I listened to them. These pedals are so smooth to use. Clipping in and out is a different story (yes I fell a couple of times), but as far as the pedals, I have no complaints. I don't have to think about upgrading them or changing them in any way. This entire pedal cost's less than the repair kit for Ultegra and as far as I can tell it works just as well.
