Read more of the Bible using this book's daily format than any other plan
The beauty of Catholic Liturgy is that it's infused with scripture; one of the great aspects of the 2-year & 3-year cycles used for daily and sunday lectionary is that the readings have a strong Christ-centric focus - the OT, Epistle and Gospel readings have a common theme or connection. This wonderful lectionary approach indeed feeds the soul, and for someone like me who, while familiar with major themes and storyline of the Bible, hasn't read the Bible in it's entirety, has created a hunger at times to delve deeper into scripture.I'm sure that if you're reading this, you've been on a similar quest. And if like me, you've tried different plans and methods in the past and failed, you're in luck - this book is an absolute game changer! So go ahead, order this book.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I've now had this Bible for a year and here are some of my observations which you may find useful:There is a simplicity and effectiveness to this book that overcomes some of the hurdles procrastinators or the easily-giver-uppers like myself- Having the assigned reading portions right there, divided by day and with a convenient checkbox to mark once done make the discipline of reading regularly a breeze.- The Daily quote from a Saint while seemingly an innocuous extra, is absolutely essential as it 'ties up' the work of reading daily into a prayer. Lectio Divina almost, as it is called in latin to read scripture prayerfully- While many have noted the lack of anything but the text of the Bible (no footnotes, commentary etc), I think it is very much in order given the previous point - there is nothing between you and God's word. The RSV text reads really well and when I found ideas coming across challenging (plenty of that in the OT!), I did turn to other sources/commentaries to give me understanding. But this was rarely at the time of my daily reading. I would do that later in the day, after having had some time to mull or chew on what I read on it's own merit and see what God is trying to convey.- There is continuity in the daily readings and a freshness, like when reading a novel - you read a few pages and set it down. Pick it back up and continue with the story, which will just blow back your hair like never before when encountering the Word of GodIf I could make minor improvements to the book, these would be my suggestions:- Have 2 Dates at the top for each day: Day and Month (March 15 for e.g) for those strictly wanting to follow a calendar-year plan, with Day 1- 365 so it would encourage others to start any time of the year- Reserve some space at the end or margins for Note/Thoughts. I think that would really help make this a Lectio Divina bibleFor you the reader, one final advice: Don't be discouraged if you miss a day, or two, or ten. Pick right back up where you left off. This book makes it easy to do so. If it takes you a year and two months or a year and half or even two, so what? You have the right plan and aid in front of you... just keep plugging along.God bless!

Easy, manageable daily readings without guilt
My Daily Catholic Bible is excellent for people (most of us) who are intimidated by a 1500-page book, start reading it, get behind, feel guilty, try to catch up, get behind again...and give up. The Bible goes back on the shelf, and the person looks at it guiltily for a while, and then avoids looking at it at all. This version gives a nice, practical structure. Each day has one reading from the Old and the New Testament that are only a few pages, and don't take long to read. Best of all, you never get behind. If you miss a few days, it doesn't matter, because you just turn to today's date, and go on from there. The pages you missed? No problem. You'll get to them next year. This is a much better version that the Catholic Edition of the One Year Bible, which is no such thing. The "Catholic" books were chopped up into 365 tiny pieces, and stuck in the back of the book. I won't make remarks about back of the bus...This version is the complete Bible, and each day's reading starts with a great quote from one of the saints, often something about Jesus. It makes a terrific way to finally start reading the Bible in manageable bits, and actually getting through it.The most important thing is to Stay In The Day, and not feel you have to go back if you miss a few days...just keep on from wherever you are.

This worked for me
I used the Kindle version. I give it 5 stars. Here are the features I feel added value to this version of "read the Bible through in one year".1) The readings seemed to take 15 - 25 minutes (average was about 20) and included one passage from the Old Testament and one from the New. That is a workable amount of time.2) The Old and New Testament passages often were related in content which was even more interesting.3) Each reading starts with a short quote from a Saint or Blessed, a very good feature. Someone else suggested that you can ask that Saint to pray for you before you read. The quotes often related to the passages.4) There is no commentary or explanation of the passages, just the Bible. This helps it to stay around 20 minutes.5) Each reading is titled with the month and day and I found that helpful to keep track where I was. It was also reinforcement when I was on schedule and motivating when I was behind.6) Each reading is sub-titled with the book and chapter number so you know where in the Bible you are reading. Verse numbers are also included.7) Since it was the Kindle version it gave me the % through the book and I found that gratifying. I could also underline and bookmark passages and I like that ability.8) I've tried other years to read through the Bible and never succeeded. This book (version and organization of content) was one of the factors that enabled me to successfully complete the Bible.

Finish the bible in a year.
If you read this bible every day you will have finished the entire bible in a year. There is nothing really to this book other than the fact that it has cut the readings into a 365 day calendar. This book never jumps around but goes in chronological order. It does not jump around but goes in chronological order beginning in the beginning of both testaments. As the old testament is longer it will have more than the new. I find this book to be perfect for daily use making the bible less intimidating and motivates me to read the entire bible with just a little 20 minutes out of my day and allowing me to read something else as I choose. Highly recommended. Sometimes the simple things in life are best.

Very Good
Something to use for one’s daily prayer time. A good product although the pages are starting to curl. If there is a hard back edition I intend to get that next year. I’ve always wanted to completely read The Bible and this is going to help me do over 12 months.
