Camtasia Studio 8: Advanced Editing and Publishing Techniques

They use the word advanced in the title, but there's nothing advanced about it. I've been using Camtasia now for about three months, and didn't learn anything new here

I'm not a very sophisticated Camtasia user, but there was nothing in here I didn't know already. I don't see what's "Advanced" about it.

I've found better information online. I was hoping for really ADVANCED topics, tips, and tricks....this book definitely is not that, regardless of the title. I'm new to Camtasia, but when I got the book, I discovered that I already knew everything presented. Sheesh. Whatta waste of money!

The authors use the features and functions of Camtasia Studio for Windows (the Mac version is neither displayed nor discussed) while sharing common-sense production advice.If you want to read this book to learn about new features in Camtasia Studio 8, you might be disappointed. The authors focus on the production tasks without, for the most part, identifying changes in the software. Because the book is written for Camtasia Studio users who are already familiar with the software, and the title mentions the version, this could have been a useful marketing tool to promote the latest features.The book is written in an inclusive voice--the authors have teamed with the reader as "we" produce "our" project, and it sometimes seems as if they pulled up chairs to your desk, coaching you as you create a video. The conversational tone works well for dispensing tips and emphasizing the impact of some functions. This book would be a good resource for a next-to-novice Camtasia Studio user who needs to be reminded of most production steps. The book would benefit from including a working example that shows the reader how to follow the advanced editing and publishing techniques from beginning to end.An experienced user who might be drawn in by the word "advanced" might have difficulty looking for specific procedures that would solve a "how do I do this one thing?" puzzle, although the index with hyperlinks helps narrow the search.I read this book hoping to find an answer for a publishing issue I'm experiencing with a Camtasia file I created a few years ago. The book provided some insight about the current published output from Camtasia Studio 8, but there really isn't a troubleshooting section that would help determine the cause of my problem and a possible solution.So if you are using Camtasia Studio 8 or are considering an upgrade, your skills might already be beyond the level of this book. If you are still learning Camtasia Studio, this book might provide the information you need in a sensible and friendly tone.

I found that book “Camtasia Studio 8 - Advanced Editing and Publishing Techniques” is a great book for the advanced user. I wish that the book had covered more of how to use the Visual properties. This is a power new feature in 8.0 and 8.1.Overall, this was a good book that should be in everyone’s library. In many respects, it complements the information that is provided by Techsmith the developer of Camtasia.

I approached this book as a "new to intermediate Camtasia" user. Having been through the drill of searching for a text--anything that would give me a more in depth understanding of this tool. With Camtasia Studio 8 – Advanced Editing and Publishing Techniques, Broadley and Dixon (more like Coach Bradley and Dixon) hit it spot-on.It is as if the Coaches walked into the room and saw my need-to-understand, pulled up a chair and talked to me in a reassuring way. I love the way they talk in the first person (We), giving a sense of working together. The Coaches afford the opportunity to experience "Aha!" moments. And, with a step-by-step bottom-up approach they walk through the basics like preparing for a recording, recording settings, and even an detailed discussion of Audio.The greatest value I gained from Camtasia Studio 8 – Advanced Editing and Publishing Techniques was this: time saved. After I'd resigned myself to wasting perhaps months of trial and error to feel reasonably proficient, this book gave me the confidence to describe myself as an Advanced user. If your objective is "to know what you don't know" as a Camtasia Studio User and then learning it, Camtasia Studio 8 – Advanced Editing and Publishing Techniques is the book you are looking for.

New or intermediate user of Camtasia Studio and want a book to keep on hand to answer your technical questions? This is a great book for you. This book is not like some that lead you through a project step-by-step. Rather, it seems to best suit the needs of those who have a project in mind and are at a loss for how to proceed once the software is opened. This book is very well detailed and covers all of the basic needs for the average user. The advanced user who is looking to add beauty and nuance to their projects may not find what they seek here. But it is all here in one place for those whose knowledge of technology of all of the various items and settings required is just average. Tips throughout the book provide information you may not even know you needed to ask. However, one would encounter difficulties later if procedures were not followed as shown here in the many screen shots.This is a book to keep on your shelf and refer to frequently to avoid issues that plague Camtasia video creators who try to wing it. From start to production, you will want this book on hand.
