The Many Styles of Fonseca
[Should you purchase this album, please note that my CD has the same front cover, with red jacket, as the .mp3 edition on Amazon and not the blue-tinged cover depicted on this page.] Fonseca is a popular singer and band of Colombia whose style of rock is lyrical with strong dance rhythms of Latin and African folk origins. They also perform slow ballads. Fonseca includes accordion, harp, trombone and trumpet, and despite a battery of Latin percussion, tunes are gentle and romantic. The accordion grounds the band in folk traditions. This edition is enhanced with two interesting videos, a photo gallery, and even wallpaper and a screensaver. It also contains three acoustic versions of tunes as bonus tracks. Fonseca has a unique happy even joyous sound. This album particularly is highly varied in tempo, song selection, and performance style. While Fonseca's later album, Ilusion, is stronger in rock and Latin rhythm and more extroverted, this studio album is closer to roots. Sort of. It is difficult to pigeonhole his art. The arrangements are excellent throughout. The acoustic versions of the previous tracks are taken slower or more intimately and with more passion. Fonseca is a world-class musician.

He was the biggest act in Colombia of 2006
I love colombian music. From their rock/pop artists like Juanes and Shakira to their vallenato artists like Silvestre Dangond, Kaleth Morales and Jorge Celedon.Fonseca fits in between both worlds. In fact I would call him Carlos Vives lite. That's not meant to be offensive. Far from it. Fonseca basically reminds me of a more reserved Vives probably because the rhythms on Fonseca's album are much slower and quieter than the rapid and loud stuff you tend to get on the Vives albums.Anyway, if you like Vives you'll like Fonseca. Basically this guy was the biggest artist in Colombia last year. Spend months at number 1, went platinum at least 8 times over (at last count), and he still gets played everywhere. The big tracks were Te Mando Flores, Como Me Mira, and Hace Tiempo. I also really liked Mercedes and the absolutely sublime La Casa. Big downer on the album was Idilio (the remake of the famous Willie Colon salsa track), it just doesn't work especially since the original is such a classic (one of the great salsa tracks, if you haven't heard it you must). In saying that the song is getting alot of airplay in Colombia this year so you may like it.Highly recommended album.

Enhanced and New? I don't believe in either
The buyer's description of this CD states that it's "Enhanced". My question is, From what? For this, I consider the seller blatantly dishonest, and I've been trapped in the his advertising BS. Also, when I bought it, it wasn't advertised as used, but surely that's what the packaging says. For $6 the return is not worth the hassle, and I must say it lives up to the label that indicates it "new like new". So the seller scalped $3 additional from me, but will get negative feedback that spills out to the quality of this recording. Compared to the recording of Gratitud, this work melts. It contains no stage depth, very boringly flat. I have an earlier version, a normal one, and I tell no difference. Love the material, but can't stand the recording. Suggest Fonseca have it remastered.

Fonseca-Corazon
The CD is beautiful. The problem I have when buying CD's is: The case always arrives broke. They should send one extra case, just in case the original is broke, unless they shipped broke to begin with and because we are far away we are unable to claim to change the case for a new one.

I really enjoy Fonseca's originality and take on all of the cuts of this CD. The quality of the recording is good and if you like Vallenatos and are into Colombian music, this is the ticket for you.

Great album w/lots of good songs.
Great music and most, if not all, of the songs were really good. Some albums, you're lucky to get a couple good songs, but you won't be disappointed with this one.
