Hello, this is Betty from Silly Legacy. It is made with polyester, and waterproof layer of polyurethane.

Q: To save cost, i don't need a cover to hang over the side of the bed. will a queen size do fine on a king size bed?

Hello, yes, the queen size will cover the top of a king size bed; however, due to shifting around, it is better to have it hanging over the sides.

Q: Will this prevent dog odor from getting on my comforter?

Yes & it is water proof...I bought two so when my dog gets one dirty...I have extra cover. They also wash great & can put on medium heat in dryer.

Q: I was thinking about this inside my duvet, on top of my down comforter to prevent spills or accidents from reaching the comforter- would this work?

I have used this cover for a couple of years. You would have to anchor it to the duvet cover. It should work for you.
