Comfortable, well made
I work in a print shop in a large warehouse and am on my feet many hours each day on a concrete floor. These shoes are comfortable to wear for 14+ hours per day. They have good support and breath pretty well. They feel very durable and well made. Especially important to me is that they are available in wide sizes. I wear a size 9 wide, and these fit me well. They also have good traction even on wet surfaces. This is the second pair of Merrell shoes I’ve owned, and I have found their products to be reliable and high quality. The only down side to these shoes is that they are a bit heavy, but that’s pretty minor, and you get used to it fairly quickly.

Great 3/4 ankle boots for people with certain foot issues.
I have drop foot in my right leg, happened when I was a 25 yr old when my pelvis was broken and I wear an AFO inside the shoe to give my toes elevation and do not trip. You can't imagine the difficulty in finding shoes I can wear comfortably with such a condition. The shoes are either too narrow at the toe box and painfully squeeze my toes or two narrow in the center of the foot and the brace will not fit inside. Many times, when I cannot find a wide style shoe, I have to buy a half size or full size larger just to fit the brace and end up tripping often from the extra length. The last pair of boots I bought were Salomon XAforce which were $200 a few years back. Since they are 3 yrs old and a light coyote brown color they have become dingy. They are great boots, probably the best but I didn't have $220 to spend. I decided to give Merrell a try because my 77 yr old uncle, who is also well aware of a good boot from his days in Vietnam, had a pair on one day. After reading several positive reviews, I purchased. The Salomon XAs took at least 3 months to break in, they were so uncomfortable in the beginning but these Merrill boots were comfortable right out of the box it actually surprised me because that almost NEVER happens. My foot is very tender in spots and some days it can be painful just to put ON a shoe. My brace fit in with no modifying whatsoever and the toe box doesn't scrunch my toes and make it painful like some other boots can. Laced up nice and tight they feel great on my feet and I can wear them all day with bo problems, which I cannot do with just any ol shoe. The bottom sole grips snow and ice and I feel fairly confident I will not slip on my butt on the icy Colorado ground. I've only had them about 4 months but so far everything has held up and I've had no problems. They've become even more comfortable than my Salomons and I wear them just as much if not more. Only time will tell if they last as long. I'm glad I got these either way when comparing price and now I'm Merrell guy just as much as Salomon, thanks uncle! 👍🏻

Impressive
Short story: I love them. Light weight. They feel great right out of box. Great traction. Toe box excellent size to allow swelling of feet on long hikes.Long Story: read the reviews and ratings about these boots. Since there were hundreds of great reviews and ratings I bought these with high expectations. My background I adventure, backpack, and I am a 14er peak bagger. I expect much from my boots. I bought these boots 4 days before a backpacking trip to grab another peak in the Eastern Sierra's. Out of the box they felt comfortable with the perfect amount of cushion. Immediately felt that the toe box had ample room for feet swelling, without being overkill, on good hikes. I wore them all day the next four days before the big hike. I noticed they felt very light weight for their size. The boots had great flex feeling like they were broken in already. When it came time for my trip I brought extra moleskin anticipating blister galore but none were needed! Had a 40lb pack headed out to some high country lakes. The hike out i didn't even give them attention because I had no pain, no hot spots/ blisters, and did not feel heavy boots when stepping. We spent a few days hiking and exploring the immediate area. Stepped in a creek with water that covered the toe box. Removed my foot from the water just as quickly as I stepped in knowing they are not water proof. Somehow no water got in. Last day we climbed up to Mount Langley and hiked out back to the car. Langley has an abundance of scree along steep routes with some boulders you can scramble over. I had excellent traction allowing for great forward progress and very minimal sliding. Scrambled across rocks with confidence. After the summit we headed back to camp and packed up the rest of our gear and hiked back to the car. Our crew is competitive so we hike quick and hard. I Fully expected these boots to start to cause issues now that I have a full pack on and spent the morning peak grabbing. Continued performance was what I was met with. So impressed I committed to writing a review as soon as we got back to cell coverage.
