Enclume Rectangular Log Rack, Hammered Steel

I searched for a long time to find a heavy duty, solid, minimalistic log holder for our fireplaces. I purchased 2 to go with our new home’s 2 wood burning fireplaces. They match the the metal and glass fireplace doors about as close as you can get without coming from the same manufacturer.These are very heavy gauge hammered steel. The finish is excellent and you aren’t stuck looking at fasteners. They also hold much more wood than I had expected. Definitely enough for a good evening time fire.

It is very nice overall, but the way it assembles is not what you would expect from a quality product at this cost. The assembly is held by 4 screws of good strength and quality, but you have to tighten them while holding the assembly square. This is not difficult, but I believe it will get knocked out of square easily from time to time since you are loading it with logs after all. It would have been much better if it had dowel pins or other locking guides tack welded in place to ensure it stays square over time. We paid $86 and I see it on Amazon now for $102. I would have returned it at that cost. It is nice, but not that nice. Packing was excellent because it prevented any chance for scratches. I love to support US made goods which made the premium price a bit more tolerable. The imported racks look beautiful, but the typical tubing materials won’t hold up if you actually use them for anything other than decoration. This one is robust, but I am betting it will loosen over time and need to be squared and tightened. An outdoor finish would have also been preferred since so many people have outdoor fireplaces. We will need to apply our own protective finish as it warns against rust in rain and humidity.

This ranks VERY high on a VERY short list of well built, american made, log racks. It's constructed of wrought iron that looks like it was built by a blacksmith and is the perfect size for your average hearth. This looks great, will fit into a wide array of decors and should last much longer than any of us will. It may appear to be a little pricey at first glance, but it is actually an excellent value when you consider the materials used. I'm an engineer with 30 years experience and can tell you that the mark up on this is way less than one of those cheap tubular versions on sale everywhere for one third the price of this one. Those cost about 2 bucks to make and aren't worth much more. So don't be lured into buying a cheap, imported, item just because it looks like a good deal. Support quality workmanship and American Made products. You will not be disappointed.

Got this for my husband for Christmas. He really likes now that he can use it 3weeks later! Opened it still sitting around the tree and its missing all the kindling rack parts! Oh yeah and it has 3times the parts for feet. I can deal with messed up packaging as disappointing as it was Christmas morning but the way enclume handled it was not ok . 6 phone calls, 3 of them being told our parts had "just shipped today" and 3 weeks later we finally get most of the missing parts. Never got the screws but did get pieces of the kindling rack twice! No thanks enclume. Too many other places we can get similar products! Merry Christmas honey!b

So we’ve had this unit since the holidays, zero regrets, super beefy, it looks beautiful, a third grader could assemble it in about 5 minutes with the supplied Allen key. Honestly I couldn’t ask for more, I’d never buy anything else, highly recommended.

Thick steel, well made

Picture is fairly accurate, but it looks quite nice on the hearth. This rack makes for quite a nice and functional way to hold a bunch of logs by your fireplace. Easy to move or sweep around and under. Looks quite nice. You have to screw the legs on yourself, but it's very easy to do and you get the required allen wrench in the package (don't lose it while un-packing). Quite sturdy and feels very well-built to the touch. Highly recommended if you have a fireplace and would like to stack some logs handy.

Sturdy construction. I have no doubt this will hold for my lifetime. Perfect size for in my kitchen/living room.
