I cannot sing the praises of this movie enough! If you want a more realistic what would happen if aliens contracted humans film then this is it. Please if you have not watched this do yourself a favor watch it any way possible but if you can buy it in 4K UHD it looks phenomenal!

La mejor película 4k que he comprado en amazon. La película llegó en excelente estado y con slipcover. Además de que la calidad de audio y vídeo son de lo mejor.

This really is a different alien movie, and that may be why there seems to be a love/hate split opinion on it. I really liked it - it poses philosophical questions like all good Sci-Fi movies - and doesn't attempt to answer them all. I will try and avoid any spoilers so my comments will not be too specific. Firstly - the casting was great - good to see a female as the lead character in the plot - especially since in a way her gender is really incidental to her role - i.e. it's not a glamor role by any means. I'm a big fan of Amy Adams and she demonstrated a great balance of strength, intelligence but also vulnerability. Jeremy Remmer was fine too though his role as Science expert is somewhat overshadowed by Amy Adams role as linguist. The aliens themselves are also not your typical movie monsters - though to an extent, their appearance seems out of step with their apparent technology and language - but maybe that's because we have been spoiled by Star Trek biped aliens. The pacing is slow though unlike some reviewers, I was never bored. You know you want to find out the answers and have to stick with it. And I think by and large you get answers - though perhaps to questions you didn't even see coming. It's definitely one of those movies that you should watch at least twice - just to convince yourself that you weren't being cheated in the plot. Non-linearity is a theme in the movie and you almost have to reassemble the plot yourself to understand it. One final thought on the 4k UHD aspect. This is one of the first movies I bought and watched specifically in 4k and was surprised at how dark the images were - and I do mean lack of brightness. It's an HDR movie but I had to take my TV out of HDR mode and boost gamma quite a bit to get a watchable image. I'm not experience enough in 4k to know if this is unusual - I'll be interested to hear if others had the same issue. I haven't had to do that on any other 4K bluray but I can't believe it is intended to be so difficult to see. I may go back and watch the Blu-ray version and see how that compares. But anyway, i was able to adjust it to be able to watch properly. So final thought - yes a good movie - perhaps not great, but interesting enough to get 4 stars and a recommendation. Just don't expect "Close Encounters" or "Independence Day" or you will be disappointed.
