Fits old battery type and works well
This fits battery type 29462. My battery is over ten years old and is for my lawn mower but it fit right into the chainsaw with no problems.I cut down approximately 4 inch diameter branches and trunks of oak, hedge bush, and various other florida woody stemmed vegetation for approximately half an hour twice since I've purchased this. The chainsaw had no problem cutting through the logs. The battery did not die before I finished. The chainsaw chain did not get stuck or cause any kickbacks.I used simply 10W-30 synthetic motor oil to fill the reservoir. This was a little ungainly but whatever, not a deal breaker. Use a funnel! The chain tightening mechanism is super easy to use and is just like every other chain tightening mechanism on every modern chainsaw in existence.I only had to re-tighten the chain once per session. The blades were sharp. The saw is quiet and lightweight. It arrived on time and undamaged.

One Amazing Lightweight but Powerful Compact Battery Powered Chainsaw
Had my first chance to use my new Greenworks 12" chainsaw today and all I can say is WOW! I own lots of Greenworks products and they have all been great but this fellow may be the best of the lot. This chainsaw is light but very powerful and that Oregon chain is terrific. Cut down a huge section of 12ft high by 10 ft deep by15ft wide overgrown bushes with 2-3" thick branches. The chainsaw never hesitated and being as lightweight as it is I was not worn out like I definitely would have been with my corded electric chainsaw or my 20" gas Craftsman. Did the job with one 40v 2AH battery which still had substantial power to spare when I was done, What a great little machine. My corded electric saw goes on Craig's list tonight. I have 3 2AH batteries and had ordered a 4AH which arrived today. With the 4AH battery you could definitely cut a lot of timber. Cut some 10" tree limbs just to try it out and it went right through them with no hesitiation or undue pressure on my arms. Blade speed is great, doesn't build up saw dust clumps in blade cage like some other electric chainsaws I have tried. My only regret was that they did not supply or offer a storage bag, but that is a minor issue. I will find a bag to buy somewhere on Amazon. Oh and by they way, 4 YEAR WARRANTY! Greenworks builds good stuff!

Update: Broken within a year :( Update 2: Good support
Upon purchase of this chainsaw, I loved it - like others mentioned, while this feels like a toy when you pull it out (so small and lightweight!) - and you have to recognize this isn't going to be great for sawing huge logs or heavy work - this worked fantastic for sawing up limbs, vines, branches, and all of the other various stuff I needed a quick cutting tool for in my yard.Unfortunately, within a year of using it, the chainsaw tension knob has broken off, so the chain won't stay tight, which prevents it from being useful. I will update if Greenworks reaches out, but so far their support has been unresponsive.Update 2: After Calling Greenworks, I had to stay on hold for about 20 minutes, but they sent me a new one, no questions asked, and told me I could keep the old one. I was also able to repair the old one by adding a washer under the screw head, so now I have two that work pretty well. I replaced the chains recently, and now they both work great! Upping review back to 4 stars!

Great tools, great company!
I bought this item over a year ago, and used it without incident many times. Then suddenly it started leaking bar and chain lubricant. I contacted Greenworks and they asked me to do a few things to establish where the problem was and send them some pics. And then they offered me a brand new, larger chainsaw as a replacement, no shipping charges and no cost to me! I cannot say enough how happy I am that they did not give me a run around, or find loopholes in the warranty, or make me send the tool in at my expense to be serviced, or any of the things I fully expected (that many companies do to their customers.) I have multiple Greenworks tools (blower, pressure washer, lawn mower, chainsaw) and LOVE that I don’t have to fight with pull cords anymore. I intentionally bought tools that will share the same batteries (and charger), which keeps my tool battery charging area less cluttered. LOVE THIS COMPANY and LOVE THESE TOOLS! Greenworks has earned a loyal customer for life!

A great little chainsaw for what it is.
I bought this little chainsaw because I already had other tools in the system, and thought I would take a chance with it - I figured it would help with pruning at the least.Previously I had used a corded chainsaw, so I thought that not having to drag that behind the unit would be a real benefit, and it is. I had a chance to use it a lot for the past 3 days, as we had the most snow I've seen in 18 years at my home in the foothills of the Sierra, which did a lot of damage to my Evergreens. It ran like a trooper, cutting smoothly and with enough power to cut 6" branches with ease. I generated about 20 cubic yards of waste (did I mention these were big ones!) and it handled this resinous wood with easy; I did give it a thorough cleaning at the end of each day, to remove the buildup of chips and resin. The saw does have a lot of internal nooks and crannies to catch all that, so an acid brush and a pick helped with that.Battery life was great - the first day, I used about 25%, the second 50% and the third 25%, and this with a four year old 4.0 Ah battery. You do need to be diligent about keep the oil filled, as it seems to use a bit more than my corded one - this may be because the reservoir is smaller. If you buy this saw, you will need a 5/32" chainsaw file to keep it sharp, along with a flat file. This is a small chainsaw, so you are not going to be starting a logging business with it. But for small jobs around the property, or to throw in your jeep, it might just do the trick, especially if you already have an investment in the Greenworks system, which is a pretty good one.
