Update (last paragraph) to Instabox HDMI transmitter/receiver review
The Instabox sales claims described everything I wanted - compatible with all modern TV resolution formats, plug & play, and excellent technical help. There may be buyers who got this thing to work, but the boxes I got were doomed from the start. The skimpy owner's manual tells you to find "HDMI Extender" on your wi-fi and connect with it. Only a network called "hidden network" came up, and I was unable to connect with it. The manual does comprehend that this can happen and refers you to an IP for help in switching from 5 GHz mode to 2 GH broadcast mode, hinting that then you can find the "HDMI Extender" and connect. That generic IP address has many subtopics, but could not find any Instabox topic. You also get a TV screen message that explains how to send them an email for help. I did this weeks ago but never received a reply. I am upset (but not surprised) that they bragged on good help service, when this whole thing looks like an unsupported product. The Owner's Manual is very brief and written in awkward English. There are a number of warnings about not making any connections to sources unless everything is turned off and unpowered. My practice as an electrical engineer (and the normal practice of any U.S. engineer) is to design circuits that cannot be harmed by proper connection to any device it is intended for regardless of its powered state - unless there is high voltage and/or high power involved. So buy this at your risk. I returned mine. This is a follow-up to the review I wrote above. On seeing this review, Instabox apologized for missing my help email to them and sent me a second set of units at their expense. These second units perform well, and it turns out that they really are plug & play if you have no problem. The original units I received must have had a hardware failure of some kind, and in trying to troubleshoot what I thought was a software-driven connectivity problem, I had sent an email to an Instabox address that showed up on screen. The factory default transmitter settings worked fine this time and I get good quality video and audio through the receiver. A nice feature of the transmitter unit is an HDMI output for the transmitting location's TV, so that you don't need to use a separate HDMI splitter to operate both the TV normally connected to your cable box and the Instabox transmitter.

Great HDMI Wireless Extender
My original idea to purchase the HDMI extender was using a laptop to display on the TV screen. It worked well. The units were close so there wasn't any issue. Setup was very simple with the transmitter and receiver. I noticed that there was an IR remote to use. So, I tried using with my cable box in the living room and the bedroom TV on the other side of the house on the same floor ( approx. 125 ft.). There was no problem getting 1080p on the TV. Picture and sound was great. This is a great solution if you need to broadcast to another room/location without having to or unable to run a HDMI wire. Potential uses could be a TV in the garage, on the back deck outside or even to use with presentations where an HDMI cable is unavailable within the suggested amount of feet. Overall, the product works great and the company is great for support if any questions or issues.

Work great! Easy to setup
Works great! They are compact and is easy to set up. I bought this unit to transmit the signal from my TV box downstairs to a TV upstairs. It is nice not to have cables running across the ceiling. The image sync on the remote end in full 1080P resolution without delay under 5ghz signal. It is around 20 feet between transmitter and receiver with ceiling and 1 wall. I am very happy that it has an infrared transmission and I can control my upstairs TV directly and no need to go downstairs!

Great image, perfect audio sync
Great image, perfect audio sync with my Roku device. Plug and play, I just connected the hdmi cables to the transmitter and the Roku device, and the the receiver to the tv/monitor. Voila’, nice image and audio remotely transmitted from the Roku to the TV. I will try this same setup, but instead of having the Transmitter and the receiver at the same house level I will transmit from the family room at the 1st floor to the furthest bedroom on the second floor. I will update the review once I complete the tests on this setup.

Purchase additional HDMI splitter and you will love this product
This unit has very good video quailty and a long range. I can place the receiver anywhere in my entire 2 story home and get a good signal. However, it cannot keep the audio in sync on the HDMI pass through connector of the transmitter. I had to purchase an additional HDMI splitter to split the main HDMI source before going into the transmitter. I couldnt’ understand why this was, but I still really like this unit short of that. As a product suggestion, I wish there could be one transmitter and multiple receivers. I’d buy another receiver instantly if this was possible.Update: June 24, 2020My receiver stopped working. It apparently had a major failure because it caused the power brick to fail. I used the power brick from the working transmitter to test the receiver, and it caused that brick to fail also. Loved this product while it worked, but it only lasted a 20 months for me.

HDMI extender
I wanted a way to watch TV in various rooms and not add extra outlets or move the cable boxes around. Set up is pretty easy and simple, but the user manual could use some refining. Getting a good picture may require some adjustments and it is best to make sure there are as few barriers in between as possible. Also it is very important to see what WiFi channels are being used in your area to prevent interference with the device. It works for the purpose I intended but based on your location your experience may vary.

So far so good!
I put a TV in my solar powered man cave/shed. I only used screen mirroring from my phone but it was not very good. The HDMI extender worked the minute I got it hooked up correctly. Time will tell if it hold up to the test of time but for now, very pleased!

Works as advertised! Picture and sound look flawless!
Very thankful this thing works just as advertised right out of the box. This solves a major problem we had with the location of our TV not being near a cable outlet.

Not a great Wireless HDMI Transmitter
I've returned this product & bought a Nyrius ARIES ( NAVS502 ) . This Instabox Shadowplay was a pain to set up & I wasn't impressed with the latency it showed . I had techies setting it up and it took much longer to get everything working ( sound, etc. ) and they even said they were not impressed with this transmitter. There was also defintely signal issues from time to time. The boxes were only approximately 10 feet apart in the same room so again not very impressive . I just set up the Nyrius and I instantly had quality sound & video .

Transmitter doesn't work at all.
I thought this would be a simple plug and play solution to get my satellite signal into the bedroom 20 ft. away but NO SUCH LUCK. The transmitter wouldn't transmit any signal or even pass through the satellite feed to the original TV. I triple verified the wiring was correct and tried different source feeds like a Sat receiver, an Apple TV and a laptop. NOTHING WORKS. Unfortunately I bought this in August as a Christmas present for my mom and now I can't even return the thing. I'm stuck with a $200 hunk of China plastic.

Good for basic TV not great.
I like that it will send picture thru walls. I use from one TV cable box in basement main room to another TV in a basement second room maybe approximately 20 feet. Fine for basic TV news & shows. Problem is anything with lots of movement it can’t keep up. Forget watching sports. Lots of blurring. Also can’t get remote sensor to work.
