Superb. Well written.. Written in impeccable juicy English.
Can't rate 4.5 stars otherwise I'd have done so. Its an amazing account of Bombay city of the 40's, 50's 60's and beyond. Solid narration of Indian film industry deceloped; about the friendship between the actors of those times; about the challenges and opportunities of those times.. a must read for all film enthuisiasts. The city of Bombay is so well described that it feels we're living in that Bombay of that era... English is amazing.

Truly 'Gaata Rahe Mera Dil'
Indeed, Dev Anand, my favourite actor from yesteryears, lived a fulfilling life on his own terms. Every page of this brilliantly written autobiography gives the reader a glimpse into the thoughts of the illustrious actor on everything from love to life and cinema to politics. I would say that this is a remarkable autobiography and can easily be called one of the best by and about an Indian legend. Of course, some readers might feel that Dev Anand is sometimes dramatizing certain events mentioned in the book. Whether it is true or not, frankly, should we even care? After all, Dev Anand would forever remain the one and only 'Evergreen Superstar' of Indian cinema. And he did indeed lived a life worth humming that song: "Gaata Rahe Mera Dil".

Dev Anand's surprisingly lucid and literate bio
Dev Anand the author surprises with an extremely readable and entertaining biography. Except for a couple of needless pages of physical relationships, the whole book is a superb narrative of a dedicated and self aware director and actor.

Paper Quality Is Not Good, Which Made This An Average Book.
I am not reviewing the book, IT IS GREAT.I have got re-printed edition by Penguin which is printed in 2014, first edition was printed in 2007, then 2011. I am not sure if these disappointments were in First Edition too.But the disappointment is the quality of book. It has 438 pages and the paper is too thin. You have to be careful while reading this book, it may torn. The font size used in the book is small too, they should use at least 1-2 point bigger font size, definitely it will increase the no. of pages but it can remain same no. of pages if make the book slight bigger. Right now the book size is 5"X7.75" (inches). I don't mind slight bigger books.Another disappointment is images printed on the paper. All images are printed on same paper which is used for text (Rough, Thin, Yellowish), Images printed on this paper look so dull, like all the ink has been absorbed by paper itself and looking lifeless. I don't like it. They should use some white glossy pages at least for images. However images used for this book are good, I would love to see these on glossy, white and thick paper. I have many books which has good pages for images and text as well. But the image part was specially treated.Overall, I would love to buy another edition if they print it wisely.

I really loved 'Romancing With Life
Mr Anand is my grandfather's generation, and that shows the relevance and the intensity of his talent that people such as me are fans of his. I really loved 'Romancing With Life.' It is an accessible text and contains an inspiring, energetic and powerful tale of an incredible man. His contributions in Indian cinema are ground-breaking and you will be able to learn all about them as you read this beautiful autobiography. My favourite part of the novel, however, was Mr Anand's failed romance with Suraiya. I feel that is something that every reader can relate to in some form. What I particularly found inspiring was how Mr Anand launched several actresses that are now veteran legends in Bollywood. I will now try to emulate Mr Anand's wonderful living philosophy – "Main Zindagi Ka Saath Nibhata Chala Gaya Aur Har Fikar Ko Dhuyen Mein Udata Chala Gaya." ("I kept on giving life company and blew every weary thought away like smoke-rings.")
