Bought this for my husband who had basal cell carcinoma, so he takes precautions whenever he's outdoors. He wears it every time he's out working in the garden. He used to wear a baseball cap, but that didn't protect his face, back of neck, or ears. This hat does.His one complaint is that it holds heat. Said the mesh side vents don't seem to vent all that well and haven't done much to help keep him cool. His head, face and neck sweat more than when he wore the baseball cap. The sweatband helps some, but he said it could be better.

Recently bought this hat to replace my aging garden hat. I loved the idea of the long flap protecting the back of my neck so I don’t have to use sunscreen. Recently went out on a boat and used it that day. Coming back in I forgot to secure it and it flew off the boat. We had gone a ways before we realized it, so doubled back around and were able to easily find it because it floats! How awesome is that? It is very lightweight and comfortable and is adjustable.

I was reluctant to try this hat because it looked huge and unwieldy. But skin cancer runs in the family and this looks like it offers excellent coverage. When I figured out how to to adjust the size and put it on, I was amazed. It felt good, very light and more comfortable than a baseball hat. It did not irritate the places on top of my head which had been frozen to get rid of precancerous cells a few days before. And it makes me feel glamorous.What a joke, but it does really make me feel better than my other sun hats. At 73, I'll take it, true or not.

I never got one of these because my wife thinks they look stupid. I am going to the beach and wanted something on my head that would protect my face, ears, and neck from the sun. I bought this hat. I wore it today on a test run while doing volunteer landscaping in the hot Texas sun. I could not believe how lightweight it was. I did not feel it on my head at all. This is a silly observation...DUH...but, my head felt like I was in the shade. The breeze finds its way to your face, so you don't get a warm aquarium effect. There is a drawstring that will come in handy on a windy beach. Today, I just tucked it in the hat and it was not noticeable. Great hat. Great price. Love it. Oh... Rachel dear.... You don't have to look at it!

I tell all my friends that this is the king of the heap when it come to protection from the sun !! Keeps bugs (I am thinking mosquitoes here) off your neck as well. Comfortable. lightweight. Adjustable. Foldable. Not expensive but well made. OK, may look a little dorky. But hey, it is like walking under an umbrella all day so who cares about looks. Gene

These are best hats I ever use. DON"T try other brands. "SOLARIS ONLY!" The one in the photo is 2 years old. I have a small lawn service, I cut 42 lawns a week and have my own 1 acre property to keep up. I used this hat everyday I work. It's has flew off my head and been run over by cars several times because I don't use the chin strap, my fault. As you can see it's very dirty, I do wash it every week in a top load machine in a nylon zipper bag. Even though it states do not machine wash. I think it was time to splurge and get a new one, well 2 going to wash them a little more often, LOL. I also have them in my other vehicles. ALL SOLARIS! Easy to adjust, great sun protection, light weight, fairly cool and most important, they LAST!

My husband is going through radiation treatments on his face because he got skin cancer from not protecting his skin when working for hours at a time in the blazing sun. I've had to Doctor all his little wounds since getting them sliced off and while going thru the radiation. Yet he still went out in the yard and mowed with no hat..l no sunscreen. So I bought him this. It's mandatory that he wear it now. I like that fact that it covers his ears and also the back of his neck. Those areas particularly get very burnt Lang with his hood head and face because he's bald. This hat reminds me of the Gordon's fisherman hat but I think he looks cute in it. It's lightweight amd has a chin strap he can tighten do it doesn't blow off if he needs it. For people with small heads, there is also a tightening strap on the back of the hat too so u can make it fight tighter. Can't go wrong with this purchase. When he's not wearing it, I'll wear it when I go fishing.

Work as Gardner, so head down exposing my neck all-day. The flap covered the sides and back of my neck and was light and airy. Would definitely buy again.

I bought this for my fair skinned preteen grandson. His opinion is it is ugly, yes it is. So I funked it up. I dyed it green his request. Need to use an all fabric dye and added some colored sploches. His opinion now, cool. Hopefully now no more sunburnt ears and neck and not having to apply sunscreen on them so often. He still only has to wear it out hiking.
