Absolutely beautiful book! If you can’t make it to one of the museums in the UK to see the exhibition of their collection Leonardo’s works, this book is the next best thing. It’s well researched and well written, you’ll learn new facts about Leonardo— even if you’re an aficionado of the great master!

Great resource

This book has to be one of THE best books I have purchased over the years of Da Vinci's work.Not only does it show his work, but compares it to the artists that influenced him.I love the quality of the photos and the close ups of the art is wonderful, showing great details, but THE BEST part is the section devoted to the Last Supper! It show not only the "Before" the restoration but the "After."I was blown away at how much color and details were stripped for the "restoration". The Before shows how rich the colors were and for those who are fans of Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code, it really makes you wonder if that isn't a portrait of Mary.It is really worth every penny. I am so glad I got this one. I will not be letting go of it any time soon!

This book is magnificent. I purchased it for a gift as I have Leonardo's notebooks by Easton Press but this book is better than Easton. I am going to give it away and keep this one.

Beautifully written, referenced, full of drawings in black and white. Some frames in colour. Comprehensive review of Leonardo's life and works. Wonderful quality book despite or inspite its age. Printed in Italy. Unfortunately the last of the great art books.

This is a great book! Get the Hard Cover version if you can as it's larger and printed on thicker paper. I recommend also getting Leonardo's Notebooks [Hardcover] along with this book. GET IT!  Leonardo Da Vinci

We went to Birmingham Art Gallery yesterday to see the 12 drawings from the Royal Collection allocated to the gallery as part of Leonardo's 500th year of his death celebration. There are 10 galleries with 12 drawings each.And they are all included in this magnificent hardback volume which celebrates the incredible range of the great master's drawing.The artist's life is interwoven with the drawings in sections e.g. Engineering and weapons, Landscapes, Anatomy.A stunning achievement and recommended to all lovers of the great artist's work.

Brilliant book if you are a fan of Da Vinci, especially his drawings and sketches. This is the exhibition catalogue of the Royal Collection Trust’s exhibition.Worth purchasing and spans many different studies - from botany, to horses, to humans, to maps, to anatomy.The book is very nicely presented, each drawing clear and with a brief description. The chapters are chronological and chart where Da Vinci was based when the images were drawn. It’s clear and comprehensive and good quality printing.

Bought this to have a good overview of what would be on display at the exhibition at the Queen's Gallery, Buckingham Palace. The book is very high quality and the notes that accompany the drawings are illuminating. Having now seen the exhibition, I will treasure this book as an excellent memento of an exceptional event. A particularly good feature of the book is that pictures from the Royal Collection have the Royal Collection index number in the caption, which enables the reader to access high-resolution images of the drawings on the Royal Collection Trust website.

A insightful,informative and visually stunning accompaniment to the forthcoming 500th anniversary of Leonardo’s death in 2019. Around 200 of his drawings are leaving Windsor Castle and touring the UK at several exhibitions running concurrently. This book showcases them all.
