Beautiful, complex 18" Byzance Vintage Pure Crash cymbal from Meinl.
I wasn't sure how I felt about this crash after comparing it to the rest of my Byzance crashes (17" & 16") and splash (10" Dual) as this is the first Pure Vintage that I have played. It has slowly grown on me and I have learned to enjoy the depth and complex decay that this cymbal offers. I play mostly pop and rock and this cymbal sits nicely in those genres. It probably is even better suited for acoustic and electric Jazz and but not suited for anything louder than Pop/Rock. I would compare this to a Zildjian Dark K or even a K Constantinople. There are some demos online showing drummers riding on this cymbal. There is nothing special about this cymbal where it sounds different than riding on any other 18" crash, terrible and washy, so I'm not sure why they even attempt it. It's a high end crash cymbal and it sounds exactly like it should, it is not any sort of hybrid ride. Being a Meinl, it is a bit overpriced but I consider this an investment and a legacy cymbal that I won't be re-selling.

High quality and dynamic cymbal
Absolutely beautiful cymbal. I play more jazz fusion type music, and this cymbal is very versatile. Great for low volumes, and absolutely pierces through when the music is loud and intense.

Excellent quality, beautiful sound
I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. He’s a professional musician with high standards and cares a lot about the quality of the music he produces. I don’t know anything about this kind of thing, but he was very excited to receive it and absolutely loves it. I’m so glad I bought this.

Quality, Smooth, Beautiful
This cymbal is explosive, nuanced, and most importantly, beautiful. I've owned a few cymbals at this price point by Meinl and they surpass my expectations every time (21" Transition Ride, 20" Sand Ride, 14" Sand Hihats). I can honestly say that this cymbal is master craftsmanship. The cymbal is wonderfully dark and as smooth as butter. Both friends with and without musical experience are shocked when they hear this cymbal. If you're on the fence for whatever reason, just do it. I could not be happier.

Great cymbal
If you're thinking of getting this cymbal, you probably are after that "dry" sound. It's right there in the name, and the cymbal delivers. I highly recommend this cymbal to anyone who wants a dry crash sound. The only thing I'll say is a negative is that light sticking on the cymbal doesn't sound too good, but it's a crash-- it's meant to be hit hard, so still 5 stars. If you want to play lightly with the tip of the drum stick also, maybe a different cymbal would work better for you.

Definitely a little thinner than I like my cymbals
This is a very thin cymbal, and for how much it costs, I’m afraid to break it. Just some advice for any other first-time buyer if this cymbal. Sounds good though!

This cymbal is AWESOME! I don’t leave reviews unless I’m just super impressed. So let me tell this cymbal has a great sound. It cuts through real nice but it’s not trashy to too metallic. So glad to have more choices at great prices!

Dirty Cymbal, just right for Rock
I recieved my crash, set it up immediately and was blown away by the sound! Quick stick response, Trashy, dirty and dark tones.. no harmonics and a quick decay of the sustain. Amazing accents for rock and rock/blues. The look and feel of the Extra Dry finish is a treat in itself.. not lathed or polished... Hand hammered and shaped. Would recommend this to all drummers looking for a deeper tone and a unique accent cymbal to cut through whatever type of music you play.
