FeetPeople Valet Shoe Shine Kit

I ordered only the wooden box without the polish or brushes, etc. The box was shipped quickly and very well packaged in a cardboard box within another cardboard box. It's a little smaller than I anticipated, but it holds 2 8-inch buffing brushes, 3 polish applicator brushes, 6 cans of polish, and a couple of shine rags, so it's adequate for my needs. As for the box, it seems reasonably sturdy and nicely finished with attractive metal hardware.HOWEVER, the lid portion does not line up correctly with the rest of the box when it's closed, especially when the latch is locked — it's crooked, off by about 1/8 of an inch, making it look cheap and junky. Not a huge deal as I intend to keep it on a shelf in a closet except when I'm using it. Nonetheless, this mistake clearly should have been caught by the seller. But for the misalignment of the top, I would have given this item 4 stars.

This is a well-made valet box, but a bit small for my needs. It does hold a pretty good amount of polishes and brushes. If you have just a few shoes and in 2-3 different colors/shades, this kit should serve you well. Unfortunately for me, we have lots of shoes/boots in various colors/shades and thus, a lot more polishes and brushes than an average user. But it does hold a pretty good quantity of polishing supplies. For the leftover supplies, I can easily put them in another (smaller) box. Having the shoe holder on top is a nice little feature.

Pros: Good matte exterior finish. Natural sanded interior. Two metal hinges secured with four screws per each. The top shoe stand is mounted with four screws, two on each side.Cons: I wouldn't abuse the hinges, which aren't sturdiest I have seen. A round-half-circle-metal-pin into-a-hole mechanism on the front will secure the box from opening but again not the sturdiest you'll see.Conclusion: I don't regret it but I'd get a bigger more sturdier box for my use if I would buy one again.

I have 8 brushes and 4 containers of wax/saphir/saddlesoap in the box. All fits great. The box is great quality and feels very sturdy. Thank you!

Another horrible 3rd party product. The brushes, literally, fell apart upon use. An entire clump of bristles fell out my first time using the brush, causing many individual bristles to get stuck in the polish. The box is flimsy and cheap and the top doesn't align with the bottom. The towels are poorly cut and frayed. The whole thing is horrible and useless. Avoid this seller and avoid these products.

I'm giving this product 5 stars because I can't find any reason to fault it. Bear in mind that the bar is set pretty low here. I mean....it's a box. A box that holds shoe care products. And it has a hinge. I'd be hard to make anything more simple that this. But the high points are that the hardware appears to be of good quality (I like the locking mechanism especially) and the wood has a beautiful finish on it. Better than most of my furniture as a matter of fact. I doubt that I'll ever have a reason to replace it, but I'd buy it as a gift for anyone that wanted one.

My father has a shoe shine valet that he made back in high school shop class and I have always wanted my own but have never been able to craft one. My wife bought this one for me for Christmas and it does a good job. It has enough space for all the brushes and polishes that come with the box and the ones I already owned. But it is also not too big to be able to place in a corner out of the way. When I was attaching the stand on the top the wood slightly cracked, but this does not diminish the quality of the product nor does it limit my use of it. Very happy with this gift.

It was good for the price. I only did two modifications to it to improve. Replaced hinges screws as the original ones were only about less than 1/4" long with ones that were 1/2" long to make it long lasting. If you decide to do that make sure you drill pilot holes as this is hard wood and may crack otherwise. Also added 1/4" weather strip to the mating edges of lid and box to give it a nice soft closing operation.
