Get the pro if your rich!
Amazing product, great fun and really bright. Takes a while to program the correct theme but practice makes it faster ...all done in binary code. The pro is the upgraded version and wow blow your mind. Get this one first!

Batteries are crap
Bought these monkey lights before and they came with the battery holder that takes three separate AA batteries which was great. So can take them out and recharge or replace dud ones. Unfortunately both sets of lights were stolen so ordered two more sets. I was very disappointed to see that these come with sealed li-on batteries in a container that can't be individually replaced. So, a couple of years later they don't hold the charge very well. What a stupid idea.Have bought some battery boxes that hold 3 x AA's batteries and will wire them in and discard these awful li-on ones.

Light me up!
I've had these for many years now frt/back on mountain bike i drive in all weather including -50 cel. They are very bright and only use them in winter mostly. Its a little tricky getting the right pattern so really read the instructions. The batteries do holdup but i as well keep my bike inside.Still have original batteries but one fades quicker then other and haven't been able to find replacement. I have USB charged ones and they pop out of bike quickly the batteries. I noticed once it got dark and i turned them on,the difference was BIG on drivers seeing me,like night and day.I had already used front and back flashing lights but having lights on the tire makes you very noticeable from the side. People will see you!!

Best wheel lights I've ever seen
Every light you look up on amazon will say it's bright, but these really are bright. On my first test ride my neighbors said, "We see you!"I've never felt the need to run them at the brightest setting. I've never seen a set of in-wheel lights that look brighter than the ones from MonkeyLectric. The streets where I live generally are not bike friendly so I fell much better with these lights when commuting before the sun comes up.The themes are difficult to show in images and video. The camera's shutter speed has to be just right. If you want to see how they look, it's best to view them in person. You wont see many representative images of these lights outside of the promotional ones from MonkeyLectric. From my perspective, in the saddle, most any theme will show up well at around 10 miles per hour. But I don't know how they look when viewed from off the bike. The more spokes you have on your wheel, the easier it will be to fit the lights. It also helps to have a sturdy wheel. The how-to video is very helpful if the pictures in the manual are not enough. If you ride on racing wheels with only a few aerodynamic spokes it could be challenging to get a good fit that doesn't put a ton of tension on the spokes and risk pulling the wheel out of true. But if you're buying parts like that to ride like the pros; I doubt you'd be interested in "heavy non-aero" lights that slightly unbalance your wheel. These are the coolest lights around for being seen, not for going fast. When it's time for a tune up the lights can get in the way if your wheels need to be trued. You might have to cut a zip tie or two to move the light out of the way and replace them when the work is done.I got two lights for my front wheel. This helps many themes show up better at a slower speeds but there are other themes that become harder to see because the two lights have no way to sync up. Letting the themes cycle through random colors with two lights doesn't work well on some themes. It's best to set both lights to the same static color. You can end up with a stuttering image on your wheel with a few themes, mostly the MonkeyFX ones (themes 1 - 8) because they cycle through a kind of animation. One light could be on the 'short dots' phase of the animation while the other light is on a different phase. I've tried to show what I mean in a couple of the images of theme 2. I don't know of a way to get the MonkeyFX themes to work well with multiple lights on the same wheel. They work best with one light. The themes that show small objects; like stars, paws, robots, still work great with one light at low speeds. These themes are all marked with a yellow square in the user guide. I added pictures of theme 30 with both lights set to random colors. If you are going fast the rockets appear to be longer. When you are slow the rockets still show up, they are just shorter.Check on your local bike ordinances to see if any colors are not allowed. Sometimes only emergency vehicles are allowed to use blue lights.
