a taste of Jamaica
After a recent vacation to Jamaica I purchased some Jerk spice and Walkerswood Caribbean Kitchen cook book. The recipes are very tasty and some a bit spicy but they reflect the taste of the island. Not only are the recipes great but the bits and pieces of info on Jamaica and her people the author reveals throughout this book gives the reader an inside view of daily life there. The book's photos and art are bright and colorful just like Jamaica. If you can't visit Jamaica in person, this cookbook gives you a chance to experience a little of Jamaica in your own home.

Jamaican Recipes
Somehow cannot seem to get the true Jamaican taste here. This book scomes extremely close. I love the book and the recipes are not hard. This is probably the best Jamaican cookbook I have owned so far. Be sure to read the recipes before hand as some of them have to be done overnight to really get that seasoned taste.

Tasty Cooking
Bought this for my friend in Washington along with bottles of Jerk sauce, also from Walkerswood. She's crazy about it and plans to have another Jamaica-Day of cooking.

Island Recipes Using Walkerswood Sauces
I didn't realize that the book was only recipes for Walkerswood Sauces but they appear to be interesting. Not that we have that line of sauce here.

Save your money
Yet another cookbook that requires buying the cookbook's (Walkerswood, in this case) proprietary ingredients. There are a limited number of recipes, and many require 1 to 3 Walkerswood products (the barbeque ribs required 3) to make. I found this cookbook to be unusable, and won't be purchasing another authored by Ms. Burke.

Colourful recipes but disappointing
Disappointed with the recipes expecting a few more to my taste. Many of the ingredients proved difficult to find and not being au fait with them I could not improvise.

Good authentica recipes
This is my second copy of a very good West Indian cook book. As a foodie and cook, I used this book to do a three day workshop some years ago for teaching young mothers to cook. They absolutely loved it and that included young women of all races. We cooked the curry goat dish, rice and peas, festival, escovitch fish and the tastes were so rich and flavourful. The festivals are particularly yummy and better than some West Indian take away made. If you want to impress family and friends this is the recipe book to do it. Only one thing withstanding some of the ingredients have to be Walkerswood which is unfortunate if you don't have access to their food products in your area. I own a few of Levi Roots books and compared to his Curry Goat recipe which I tried and was disappointed with Walkerswood is far superior, authentic and proportionate in the right ingredients.

Classic Caribbean dishes, simply executed!
Second copy of this book I’ve purchased. Classic Caribbean dishes with great photos and simple recipe instructions...... for those West Indian connoisseurs- you can always adjust and add as you see fit.
