Ahhhh... this is the stuff.
I have collected a number of books on uniforms of all kinds over the years. The difference in quality between a quality product and rubbish has become clear to me, and this book is the former. It is simply superb. The book itself is a high-quality affair, with glossy pages, fold-outs, and a good binding. The content is also great; virtually all of the noteworthy costumes from the original trilogy are here. The format shows them to their greatest advantage. No one can quibble about the choice of models here, since the costumes are placed over appropriate but unobtrusive manikins. The text is also good; there are extensive interviews of the costume designers behind these films. They offer nice insights into the process. At times the choice of subject starts to cross the line from costume to make-up, but I don't think that anyone will object if Chewbacca's outfit or R2D2's is included. Many people might expect this book to be an extension of an earlier publication on costumes from the prequels. It's not; it is far superior in every way - not least of which is that it is a much more convenient size. If you collect books on uniforms, costumes, science fiction or Star Wars, this one should be on your shelf.

Great book and perfect companion to Dressing a Galaxy!
Great book and perfect companion to Dressing a Galaxy (which was mostly PT)! There are some great backstories in here as well, like about Carrie Fisher and how she wanted to be in the metal bikini to show off her trimmed down body, etc. Add in the incredible photos of all the costumes, a must have for any OT fan!

An invaluable resource for Star Wars costumers
This book is extremely invaluable for those interested in the original Star Wars trilogy's (episodes 4-6) costumes. It's the perfect insight for how much work went into what became an iconic saga. This book has gorgeous colors, extremely high definition and detailed photos, and very helpful facts and information about many costumes. It has nearly EVERYTHING, especially for Luke, Leia, Han, and Darth Vader. My only issue is a mistake within the book, Leia's iconic Senatorial gown from A New Hope. The book says the original gown was crepe de chine, when it was actually Qiana fabric - popular for the time, but has not been manufactured in many decades.Beyond that, I LOVE this. I eagerly await a reprint of Dressing A Galaxy, and perhaps a new version for the sequel trilogy!

Excellent reference book for any fan of the costumes of the Original Trilogy. Beautiful photography, intriguing background stories by the creators. And finally, clear and large shots of the A, B, and Y wing pilot uniforms from Return of the Jedi. You will not be disappointed.

Star Wars Costumes The Original Trilogy is a great book about Star Wars Costumes from the OT.
Star Wars Costumes The Original Trilogy is a great book about Star Wars Costumes from the OT. So many great photos taken from the Lucasfilm Archives of the Costumes from the original star wars trilogy episodes 4-6 from A New Hope aka Star Wars , The Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi, The Photography of all the costumes is great the Luke Skywalker Jedi Knight Costume is my favorite of the costumes from the OT and the photos of it are great. Keep in mind not all the costumes shown in the book are in good condition remember their close to 37 years old and have some signs of rust on them but all it all they look great. Brandon Alinger did a great job writing this book and earns my highest recommendation. If also your a fan of the Prequel Trilogy of Episodes 1-3 check out Insight Editions Dressing A Galaxy that is a perfect companion to this book. Overall I give Star Wars Costumes The Original Trilogy a 10 / 10 across the board a great book on the Costumes of Star Wars a great book for any Star Wars Books Collection. The Force is Strong With This One.

Star Wars fan? Get this book!
This book is full of detail and wonderful photos. Absolutely worth the price. I remember Brandon Alinger as a SW fan back in the 90's, so it's great to see him still at it and making such a terrific book.

A must for any fan of the original Trilogy. A well put together book.
This book is amazing. I cant believe it took me this long to get it. This is a must for any Star Wars fan, especially of the original Trilogy. It is packed with behind the scenes images and details of all the costumes and creatures. The panels are well laid out and some of the fold out sections are awesome. I would have loved more details on the bounty hunters from Empire Strikes Back and the denizens of Jabba's Palace in Return of the Jedi but they do cover them pretty nicely and it is cool to see the Cantina creatures out of their environment.

Amazing insight into Star Wars
A beautiful book. I wasn't sure at first if I wanted a book just about the costumes, but I'm glad I got it. The photographs of the costumes themselves are stunning, including close-ups which reveal some of the bits you don't see on screen. These go alongside a wealth of other material including stills, behind-the-scenes photos and concept art. The text is a fascinating insight into how these iconic costumes were conceived and made, and sometimes a bit about what the actors wearing them thought. It doesn't just include the famous costumes, but all sorts of background characters including skiff guards, rebel technicians and so on. A must for fans of the original trilogy.

A very nice book about the different costumes seen in the original ...
A very nice book about the different costumes seen in the original trilogy, with some great pictures and descriptions of many of the costumes.Bad points: Doesn't contain all the costumes from the movies. Not nearly enough pictures of everything. Will make you frustrated with your own costumes lack of accuracy.A definite must have for the serious Star Wars costumer and a nice supplement to Dressing A Galaxy. I'm leaving a star out, because I wanted all the costumes (at least all the main costumes) and more pictures with more details. For the next book about Star Wars costumes there should be more pictures, more detailed descriptions (although SWC have some good ones), and just more costumes featured. Oh, and don't forget the costume gallery in the back where all the costumes are shown with references to what page they can be found on. (As seen in DAG).

Readdressing the Galaxy
You should really see this as the companion volume to "Dressing the Galaxy" as the focus with that volume is almost entirely the Prequels. This is a hugely comprehensive and very detailed look at the Original trilogy and it covers alot of the popular as well as lesser well known costumes, and ,with some excellent photographic work gives perhaps the best coverage I've ever seen.An absolute must for an OT fan!!!
