NOT IF YOU WANT THIS AS A MARINE AQUARIUM SALINITY TEST EQUIPMENT
Simplified: Higher the temperature the lower the salinity reading it will show - Meaning 1.025 in hydrometer at 30'c is actually 1.040 in Refractometer.Hello, I guess you are reading this review to find weather to buy this or not. I will detail the entire story for your understanding, if you want to use this for testing your salinity in marine saltwater fish tank like me then please don't buy this. I am writing this review spending my time is just to save people like me and you from making that mistake, I got this 3 to 4 months back, I maintained my tank in the beginning at 1.024 and when I had the ICK problem I reduced the salinity to 1.013 then slowly raised it back to 1.022. The above mentioned salinity were readings from this Hydrometer. I have few marine fish like clowns, mandarins, and tangs, then one day I decided to add a bi color angel that was little sensitive to salinity and other parameters, I added it and in 4 hrs it died. I did not know the reason till now, as now I purchased a refractometer with ATC(Automatic Temperature Controller) which means from 15'c to 30'c the salinity will not change. After this I learned hydro meters are calibrated at 20'c so at 28'c it will show a wrong reading, which means today my water temperature was 29'c and the hydrometer showed 1.016 (I was keeping it low) the refractometer showed 1.025 which is little on the line. So when I was keeping 1.025 it really was 1.040 and that is the reason my bi color angel died. If you are planning to measure salinity of your aquarium buy a refractometer with "ATC" this is very important !!!!!

It didn't have a beaker as shown in red in the picture. How should one measure without the beaker to pour liquid in.

I think it's a good one, I wanted hydrometer in different range scale, I tried to return, some how it didn't happen.If you are looking for 1000-1100, this could work.
