Auxtron Motion Detection Digital Doorbell Camera

The Auxtron SF525 3.5-inch HD Motion Detection Digital Doorbell Camera is one of the best doorbell cameras out there. I bought this for security purposes. I will divide this review by sections -Camera - is not the best, definitely not up to 2020 standards, but it gets the job done! It takes a small picture, 20-30kbs at most which gets saved into your SD CARD (I have attached a 32gb card, which it detects). I am sure I won't run out of storage anytime soon. You can see the sample attached above, I have photoshopped some sample pictures which gets saved in the SD Card along with the real-time view.Motion Detection - Really up to mark. One of the best features of this model. Even when someone enters the other apartment, it quickly takes a snap of them — great job on this one. Also, as soon as someone approaches the door, the motion detection quickly turns on the camera and snaps a picture, also turns on the inside display unit for you to see. Don't expect NATGEO LEVEL SENSING, it takes some time to get the unit on, there is some lag, but it gets the job done.Battery - Auxtron was kind enough to provide two batteries and a charger. With motion sensing on, the battery usually lasts me a day to 1.5days max. Charging time takes around 2-3 hours.Customer Support - Out of this world. The first unit which I bought worked fine for 3days and then the display stopped working. Since the product was returnable, I returned it for another one. This one works fine. The customer service provider called me and asked me about what went wrong and tried to help me through the process. I haven't seen this excellent customer service for a long time, and this is the reason why I am writing this review. I have ordered another model for one of my neighbors, will review that as well.

This doorbell camera is easy to install if there already is a peephole in the door. Picture is clear when there is sufficient light. Backlighting will result in overexposed images but unavoidable with any camera without a fill flash. There is a two to three second lag for the screen to turn on but that is the case with almost every doorcam. IR mode works OK if the person is directly in front of the camera. Motion detection(PIR) works fine, but the screen lag prevents it from capturing movement that is faster than the lag. Battery life is about 3 to 4 days with IR and PIR. Two batteries are supplied so one can be kept as a standby. The doorcam can also be powered by a 5V, 1A adapter or a battery bank (not supplied). Connector is mini USB, not micro USB. WiFi connectivity would have been great but the cost would probably go up. Tested with micro SD cards from 1GB to 32GB.

Motion sensing is not reliable and does not capture photographs on time. It captures photograph only if a person poses in front for sometime - hence doesn’t serve the purpose of a peephole camera. Also noticed that it selectively captures pictures leaving out some people.Picture quality is pathetic - one can only make out if it is a human or an animal if the object is not very close to camera with a great amount of light.Battery life is also very bad, but we can manage with the extra battery provided. But the pain of changing battery every two days is not worth considering the above.My advice would be to stay away.

Pictures are clear with sufficient light, motor sensor seemed to work fine except in case of fast movements. But the quality of the unit is poor. The batteries need to be charged at least once every week. The battery has to pop out on opening the battery slot. Only then you can take it out for charging. This stopped working first. Everytime we had to dismount the display unit and try hard to get the battery out. After one such marathon task, I tried to mount the display unit back and it came off as it didn't sit properly. In the falling force, the cable connecting the peephole unit to display unit broke. Auxtron said they cannot repair cable and we have to pay 2800 Rs and get a new peephole unit. Even if we get it, we will still have the issue inserting battery with the display unit. So, it is lying idle since the past few months. Disappointing. 6000 Rs for 6 months.

Been using this for6 months now and seems like a good time to write a review. Everything works fine including the motion detection and the night mode. One of the Batteries got puffed but the AuxTron support was amazing. Not only did they provide a quick replacement, they topped it up with another spare one. Really good experience and I would recommend AU XTRON to all since they Are quite honest and Sincere, The product ifself is very useful and I am very happy with the purchase and the experience, All the Best to AUXTRON.

battery always dies- doesnt stay longer than 4 days, no notification about it.camera quality is very low. motion detection is super slow...no memory card inside (its informed to client in description)but its not convenient because how as a client we know what memory card we need to buy for this device.
