The heavy duty rubbing compound is fantastic for restoring and polishing surfaces! It works exceptionally well on removing scratches, oxidation, and blemishes from automotive paint and other surfaces. I remember this product being "gritter" back in the day. It was competent, but didn't get semi deep scratches.

I bought this rubbing compound to polish up my car headlights after reading a few reviews that promised it would work wonders. Well, they weren’t kidding! My headlights now look like new, I half expect them to start talking to me like in Cars.!!:)If you're doing this manually, it does take a bit of effort, but nothing too crazy. It’s more of a light workout enough to make you feel like you've earned that extra cookie, but not enough to make you break a sweat. Just a few good rubs, and voila !!!!I even put a little bit on my car paint just to see what would happen, and I was amazed! It left the paint looking shiny and refreshed, so I’ll definitely be using it for that in the future.

I use these for shining up old sheet metal, paint that's covered with grime, or sometimes even old wood finishes before ending with a good paste wax. This is the same as DuPont's No. 7, which I think dates back to the 1930s. I had been using the same metal can since the 1990s and finally used the last of it up and bought this to replace it. Good stuff but.... it does have a strong chemical smell so if you wash your rags like I do then your clothes washer will smell strongly of chemicals for several cycles but that does go away eventually.This is actually a favorite abrasive/polisher of mine and is more aggressive than Mother's Magnesium-Aluminum Polish so sometimes I will use No 7 first and then switch to that for finishing it.

Better seal or quality control is needed when it comes to this type of product. Bad review is on the packaging not the product itself. Product is good. Ive used it many times before and appears to be the same as I’ve been using. Just a shame that this one is going to waste. Stick with brick and mortar stores with this one!

But it definitely improves the look overall. I bought this for the circular metal bottom of my barstools. They have all these little scratches all over them and looked terribleWow, this unfortunately did not remove the scratches. It polished up the metal enough that unless you’re standing right on top of them, you don’t notice it. I take that as a win.
