Good Deal, 3 HDD working, 2 Pen drive working. Poor packing
+ Reached well before expected delivery- Packing quality - Poor, send by Techsoft. Is not packed in a box, but wrapped in corrugated paper. So cant use same packing once opened, just incase you wish to return.= When it is shaken, it has a moving part. But works well.+ Works well in XP and In Linux Mint 17 LTS XFCE and so will work on all Ubuntu based Distros+ Added 3 HDD for testing. 1TB, 320 GB and 160 GB (160 GB was added with Y cable) and Added 2 USB Pen Drive of 8 GB and 128 MB in Mint 17. Working well. (Note 2 pen drives along with 3 HDD were added in Linux Mint 17)+ Detects all HDD well+ No loss of speed while transferring from 1TB HDD to 320 GB HDD. 2.19 GB in 2 - 2.5 minutes (approx)- After 30 minutes of continuous running in XP, old HD of 160 GB showed Low memory message. (Though I have seen this message earlier). But working perfectly fine in Mint 17+ Working better on Linux Mint 17 than in XP. Working on Mint 17 since 15 minutes.+ USB Hub not getting hot even after running for 30 minutes in XP and 30 Minutes in Mint 17+ Good robust built+ Contains unbranded but good quality 3.8 A power adaptor (though not shown in picture) with reasonably long cable around 1.25 Mtr+ Contains a thick good quality white cable that connects Belkin Hub with PC (not shown in picture) with reasonably long cable over 1.52 Mtr- This product is not shown on website, but is available in India as on 19th Nov 2014. Product is good but may be discontinued. Still it is a good buy.- No LED indicator on Hub. So we do know if the Hub is getting power supply or not. Trivial when Hub is working butwill frustrate you if for any reason Hub is not Working. We need to identify whether problem is in Hub or in Power Adaptor.Note: Y cable contains one mini USB. Other end is split into two. Thicker cable with power + data capability and another thinner for power. This used to come with old Seagate HDD of 160 GB with rugged box packing and not the current cheap plastic packing that they have shifted for cost saving.Hint: Since we do not use more than 2 HDD at once for copying (it's not advisable to use, as it will ultimately loose data transfer speed), not all data is actively transferred simultaneously at the same time. Hence there is not much load as far as data transfer is concerned. Need for power is taken care by robust 3.8 A adaptor. It is like sharing a net connection. Even if one browses net, one does not continuously download data like one does while downloading large data like Linux ISO file which is around 700 MB to 3 GB (depending upon distro)Conclusion: A better buy. Must for all those who do archiving of their photos or old videos in raw format captured in handy-cam. Having multiple copies is better to protecting our data. It is also advisable to check HDD periodically and hence this product can be useful. This product will be useful to copy or exchange data from one USB enabled device to another i.e. pendrives, HDD, smart phones, and memory cards (which some Bluetooth players use to play mp3 music).Caution: Though in review you may see all 3 HDD running or some have even charged their mobile phones, still, we do not know the effect in long run. This review is done on the first day of receiving this item and is done only once before posting it here on Amazon.

Almost Perfect
Packaging was good. Original BELKIN sealed unit got from seller "e9accessories". Delivered next day of ordering. The hub is much smaller than I expected.Measured dimensions of the hub: 15 cms x 3 cms x 1.5 cms. This is as small as a 7 USB hub can get. Build quality is excellent. In the box is the hub, a sturdy USB cable for the hub (it has a mini USB connector), a power adapter with a 2 pin and a 3 pin plug which can be easily swapped.I tried it in powered mode with 3 hard drives connected to my laptop. Also tried in unpowered mode with 1 hard drive. It worked well. The only negative thing I can say is that there is no Power LED. There is no way of knowing the adapter is powering it or not. This would have been a perfect product if not for this oversight.Other than the LED it is a solid value product which looks good too.

A sturdy and a quality piece from Belkin
The usb hub feels very light in weight, but the construction is solid and is of high quality. USB Connection point on the hub is mini-B. The USB ports are pretty standard and is of good quality, unlike some substandard pieces, where the connector behind the plastic is misaligned. Overall, a good product.

Just what I needed
With the iMac having only two USB ports, and that too at the back of the monitor, this is exactly what I needed. I'm a photographer and had a hard time with only two USB ports. Now I have my two external HDs and several pen drives connected at the same time.Good looking product and great speed. Lightweight.Just one thing: I had presumed that it powers up through the USB connected to the computer, but I was wrong. You do need to power up this device with a plug that it comes with.

Nothing special
I wouldn't recommend this product.Pros:1. Comes with a power adapter (0.5a)Cons:1. For some weird reason, somebody at Belkin thought a white USB cable would look cute on an all black desk. Not funny at all.2. Okay it's a 7 port powered USB hub. That's it and nothing special about it. A product with indicators for power and USB connectivity would get a better rating.3. Crappy build quality. The unit I just un-boxed already had a loose part inside. I can hear something shaking inside. I tested it and it works. Just too much hassle to go into getting a replacement.4. No additional power/charging ports like a few other hubs provide.Bottom line, you get something far less than what you see or read. When you order this, expect just the seven powered ports. nothing else. The piece you get may not have something loose inside but the build quality is too cheap. So I would recommend look for something else.

Worked well for a month.
Worked well for a month. Now it randomly looses power. This causes the devices keep on connecting and disconnecting continuously. Might be the adaptor's problem but there is no customer care support from Belkin at all.

Well Designed Circuit.
It seems to have a decent USB controller inside, most hubs have a serious issues that would tip your MB and have boot issues.I luckily never faced this issue with this hub yet, which is good. One thing to note is that it's not a passive hub, it's powered.
