Bobber Down!!!
Great book! I have experience float fishing and have caught quiet a few Steelhead and salmon underneath a float. I was looking for a book to help give me a better understanding of Steelhead behavior and how to read a river. This gives great examples of what gear to use (rod, reel, line, floats) and applications for each one. I can't wait to get to the river and try out a few things I've learned from reading this book. I think that if you are float fishing already but tend to not have the same amount of take downs as other guys on the river this book might really help increase "bobber downs"! Also if you are not yet a float fisherman and have just been drift/floss fishing you are missing out. Get this book and some gear. I haven't flossed sense the first time i had a fish on from floating a jig.Take care and tight lines!!!

Reccomend for any novice
I salmon fish in the fall and have been trying to steelhead fish the past couple of springs without luck. With the help of this book, I got the right gear, the right setup and the right information. I caught two steelhead in two trips. I take that as a 200% improvement. This boom is an easy read, easy to understand and will help the novice catch fish.

This is a very basic guide to float fishing, ...
This is a very basic guide to float fishing, very limited in any advanced techniques. I have learned more from Terry on his Steelhead U website.

Meh
Pretty basic knowledge even in the advanced section. Gave it 4 stars because I learned a thing or two but this book is better for a first timer

Can I Get My Money Back?
I'm sorry but this book is terrible. First off, it has an ad for G. Loomis(pg. 47-48)... then makes claims of not liking to name drop while naming other companies like Shimano, Raven, and Saeguar. Secondly, he makes many an assumption including one such as "Anglers using center pin outfits prefer balsa as well." His information on most subjects is very vague and lacking, some hardly even mentioned. Not once was the time of year mentioned, run timing, spawn timing, or the reason why steelhead even enter the river... The inclusion of physics equations for selecting floats is comical and useless, and clearly difficult to work into the text. He may be able to catch fish but certainly cannot write books, at least not without some of his sponsors mentioned above2/5 This book made me angry to read, and I will not be recommending this book to friends.Try Steelhead Float Fishing: Modern Techniques & Methods by Jim Butler, much more information and insight (and hey, no media ads).
