Maped 129200 protractor - protractors (Aluminium, Aluminium)

My son will probably be denied the opportunity to break this robust protractor because some little **** at school will likely 'borrow' it first, but in the unlikely event of that not occurring, it looks like a good one. Strong enough to survive the punishment a 14 year old boy inflicts on his school bag.

Aluminium 180 degree protractor. Horizontal / vertical centre lines with alignment hole to position protractor on cross hairs. 100mm base, calibrated from centre. 50mm left reading and 50mm right reading from centre. Protractor made from 2mm thick metal. Superb geometry instrument. Used in joinery workshop.

It is metal and therefore durable. It is good for a workshop, but less useful in a school where speed of measurement can be desirable. The metal centring hole is harder to place accurately over a small diagram in an examination paper, and the necessary absence of markings in the void between the centring hole and the degree markings on the periphery would not assist a pupil in reading off the degree of a line accurately without drawing more construction lines. Good for woodwork projects I would say, less good for GCSE.

Made me acutely aware of just how obtuse I was about right angles.

Unless my son loses this it definitely won't ever break so won't need replacing. Brilliant quality and idea. Worth the extra money.
