Review: Great Peace of Mind - I don't tie down the front and read of my kayak when I'm taking it to the river in my neighborhood. For that 40mph trip I'm fine with a pair of ratchet straps to keep everything secure. If I'm going on the highway then I need some peace of mind and these things perfectly fit the bill. The ratchet mechanism is easy to use and release and the hooks have a nice soft finish to avoid scratching my car. Until recently I was using a rope with a single hook that came with my kayak rack for tie down purposes and I'm glad I made this upgrade. In addition to not needing to memorize any fancy knot ties (which admittedly I should learn anyways...) these ratcheting tie-downs take half the time to set up. I can get my kayak secured to the roof of my car in under five minutes now!
