This is a new recording of selections from the Broadway show, Phantom of the Opera. With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Phantom of the Opera is the longest-running musical in Broadway history. Each song appears on the album twice: once with background music and guide vocals, and once with accompaniment tracks alone. This allows the performer to learn a song by singing along with the vocals and music, then to practice their technique accompanied only by the background tracks. All songs are recorded in the original show key and show tempo. This is a CD not a CD+G recording.

Good but a few major problems.
These songs come with both karaoke(with voices) and accompaniment(without voices). It's a great product but the songs sound different from how they are in the movie. Their pace is a bit faster and for some songs, the parts where you hold a note for a long time are cut short. For example, at the end of Think of Me, in the movie, Christine beautifully ends with about 30 seconds of skiting of's. On this CD, the ending is cut down to about 25. I know it sounds like it's not much but if you try to sing this song how it is in the movie with the song on this cd, it won't be the same. If you are really good and know how to manage you'll be fine. If you can't, then you'll have to learn the songs all over and practice from there. It might sound easy, but for some it could take a while.

Incomplete
I don't expect lyrics when I order accomp. CD's like this. The orchestration is well done and perfect to the musical score. I wish everyone would stop referring to the Warner Brothers movie when buying a CD such as this. MOVIES MODIFY THEATRICAL PLAYS!!!! And besides, Butler's vocals are horrendous in the movie...why would you want to buy a copy of that? The only thing disappointing about this purchase is that it is 60% complete. Many songs are missing. How can you end the accompaniment CD with "The Point of No Return?" There is a ton of show left, and I now need to search for more accompaniment.

Not for beginners
There are a few variances between this version and the original musical (for which I have the sheet music and audio cd), which throw me off now and then, but overall fantastic. The music is very challenging and practically opera-level difficulty, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you have at least some vocal training and a good vocal range, but if you want a challenge, this is the music for you!

Holy crap..
Holy crap...all I can say is some of the tempos are way off. A nice slow ballad such as Wishing was very quick...I tried to keep time with my sheet music, but I gave up.
