Nokian WR G4 All-Season Radial Tire - 225/55R17 101V

I live in a ski resort town and snow tires are an imperative up here. The tires arrived quickly and we were able to schedule an install the same day with a local shop. We had a pretty big snow storm arrive and I couldn't believe the difference just driving home from the shop. Turns felt solid, stopping was easy and didn't involve my usual fear of sliding through the intersection, and it handled perfectly in the ice. I LOVE these tires. When they arrive, you will see that they have "outside" and "inside" markings. ** If your tire installer says that they are "directional" and that you have two tires that are going the wrong direction, let the installer know that they are "asymmetrical" and to go ahead and install them. "The tires have "asymmetrical tread pattern with "Centipede Siping" — jagged 3D sipes on the center rib that resemble the legs of a centipede — which the company said grips the surface to maximize biting edges while maintaining handling."6 months later: The tires drove well through the summer however they are a little grippy around corners when the weather is warmer. Not a problem at all considering the terrific traction they have in the winter.

These work okay as a true all/ 4 season tire. Better than expected in the snow but obviously the compound needs to remain harder for use in summer months. Snow and ice conditions is decent but shouldn’t be confused with a dedicated snow/ ice tire.

I have been nothing but happy with my first purchase of a tire from the Nokian line. The WR G4 is a solid performer, as I've had quite a few opportunities to use these in inclement/snowy weather here in Colorado. There is a huge gap in performance from my previous Champion Fuel Fighters and the Nokian tires, as those tires were total junk, especially when the ice and snow hits the pavement. These Nokian tires have a nice grippiness when the roads turn sour, really shining when it's wet (as with rain) and when there is fresh snow. Moving from a dead stop and braking are also improved, as is cornering in turns, for dry and wet driving. I have a renewed confidence in my tires when I use these Nokian tires, and highly recommend them - these will now be my go-to tire for my CO driving in both wintery and dry conditions!

Updated: After 2 years tread wear is better then the factory Yokahamas. Also running these tires on daughters VW now. Highly recommended.2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek. The snow performance is notably better than the factory Yokahamas. Runs quieter and rides better too. Will update when I know how they last. But so much improvement for about 30% less seems like a great deal so far.

My husband loves this brand and we saved some money by ordering from Amazon and then delivered to our local garage to replace our old Nokians.

So I had just gotten a set of 4 of these Nokians installed on my 2014 Impala Limited from my local tire place. Today was the perfect day to test them as it had been raining and there was a lot of water on the road. I decided to put the accelerator down about 1/2 way and it never even tripped traction control, these tires just hung on with no issues. So I know that it's only been a day but I love how these handle from the tires I had before this. I'm excited to see how they handle in the winter weather. I was told these are the same tires that the Michigan State Police installs on their fleet, so if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me! They are very slightly noisier than some tires but that can totally be overlooked in comparison to their performance.
