Clear maps using iPad
I got this as a Kindle edition on my Apple iPad second generation. Excellent maps from the Imperial War Museum collection. You can easily enlarge the contemporary maps to show excellent detail. Better, in this case, than a print edition, I think.

Used for a Presentation
Used to prepare a presentation about mapping in the military from 1775 to present day. Was looking for more about the actual mapping process used.

Useless Maps
I chose this book because of the maps which turned out to be useless. They are not readable and amount to no more than a selling point for online shoppers who don't have the luxury of physically inspecting the book. Otherwise the book is pretty good and I would have rated it higher had I not bought it primarily for the maps.

Low Resolution Maps, Pictures & Diagrams
I'm still determining if I am going to keep this book in digital format. It appears to have some nice accompanying written material. It's the maps and other such material that is a problem. I have a large iPad for the purpose of zooming in on attachments. This is the worst experience I have had with any ebook. The maps are, for the most part, worthless. If high resolution files could replace those in the book, this might become a researchers golden source. Is there any chance of this being upgraded soon? Or, is there a download option which accesses high resolution files?

Another very good Great War book!
Another good book about the War to end all Wars. Probably a niche market for this book, especially for cartographers or geographers. I especially liked the section on airplanes and zeppelins. Also thought the submarine section was pretty decent. Overview of Russian Revolution and its impact on the war was very good. Some good photos. For those who may be planning a trip to locate and explore the sites of many of these famous battles. Or those who just want to put the battles into a geographical perspective. I gleaned more info than I possessed before reading the book, which for me is always a good indicator. Descriptions accompanying maps help put everything into perspective.

Reasonable but I would not use it for research.
I have not had the time to fully study the book since purchase but it seems to be a reasonable account of the mapping of the battlefields. Personally if I had looked at the book prior to purchase I would probably put it back on the self, some photos do not seem to be in context with the text and are in place to pack out the text. For the price I cannot complain.

A rip-off
at £3.99 for a book that has lots of unreadable maps unless you possess a very strong magnifying glass; is simply a rip-off.The history within leaving aside a book thats about maps and mapping adds little to make up for this deficiency. Perhaps I should have guessed it would prove a waste of money. Curiosity and hope influenced me!

Fascinating reference book. Decent graphics
Brought for my elderly mum who's dad took part in various battles in WW1 in the middle east, who keeps being reminded of the sites of these battles when they are mentioned in the news today. It's a fascinating reference book.

Complements any study of the First World War
Should you ever need to present you research on a battle of the First World War you will need a map or maps to illustrate the narrative - this, though selectively, will do the job. An insightful selection of what is available to the professional researcher or historian.

Met my needs admirably
Excellent insight into Maps of WW1 and trench warfare. I am currently undertaking a family genealogy project and this has further improved my understanding of trench system warfare. Delivery and condition of book upon receipt spot on. Many thanks
