Sarah Skinner is a talented costume artist and performer. She has an approachable style of teaching belly dance. This DVD teaches a fun routine with veils and even shows you how to make the veils and create your own costume. You also get to see Sarah Skinner perform. The major flaw with this video (hence the four stars rather than five) is that it presents macabre details about John the Baptist's murder that are not only historically inaccurate, but offensive. There really is no connection between belly dance and Salome's dance, and tying belly dance to gruesome murder just ruins the fun. It really reminded me of making light of the deaths of those who died by guillotine in the French revolution. This is the 21st century and our art should have progressed beyond tasteless ridicule of those who have been oppressed and murdered. Just because something evil happened in past doesn't make it funny. It would be like making fun of the holocaust or the Armenian genocide. Those segments referring to Herod and Salome and showing representations of John's bloody head on a charger should just be removed. If I had the ability to import the video and cut those parts out, I would, since the rest of the video is really quite good.

This is an instructional for a short veil choreography based on the "seven veils" story. This choreo has a very exotic, feminine, sensual feel to it. It's alot of fun to dance to. She even gives tips & ideas on what to do, if you wish to mezmerize your special "Sultan" for a romantic evening. Sarah is really great, from costumes, to teaching you how to look flawless and radiate beauty & romantic sensuality in your dance. The moves taught in this choreo can be accomplished by a beginner with some experience, but for the complete beginner, it might be helpful to have some of the bellydance basics.This choreography does not contain alot of veil tricks, (and not anything new if you are expeirenced with the veil)-if you are looking for that, you might want to try Sarah's other veil DVD. It's excellent. This dance is based on the Biblical "Seven Veils" story. Simply put: draping the veils on your body, dancing, and how to take them off gracefully.Also included, is Sarah's lavish "Seven Veils" performance that is just fantastic --really beautiful to watch. Sarah is such an amazing dancer! The production quality is excellent- with lavish costuming. Not the regular old bellydance performance-It much more like theater.

Belly dancing is NOT stripping...why why why did Sarah Skinner have to make it into stripping in her DVD titled Seven Veils "Romantic" Bellydance!? I really wanted to like this...but I have to agree with the reviewer who compared Sarah Skinner to one of the Barbies from Toy Story. Sarah's performance could only be described as "a stripper on Prozac." She actually rolls around the floor at one point, crazy eyes unblinking, with a scary grin on her face the whole time. I was embarrassed for her.The costumes are gorgeous, and there is a section about making your own costumes (which you can easily find for free on google by the way). If you want belly dance technique that is both beautiful and sensual and doesn't try too hard, try Sensual Bellydance with Blanca instead of this.I gave this a generous 1 star because the costuming portion was creative and informative and I'm also a crafty person named Sarah.I'd recommend this for people brand-new to belly dance. Yes, she explains things very thoroughly.Yes, she is quite adorable, asking me if I'm having fun yet.But when they say "romantic belly dance," they do mean it. I'm not a romantic belly dancer, therefore I didn't care for the "audience interaction part" and some of her floor work. Some of it was nice and appealing, some of it seemed a little goofy.What I wanted was a lot of veil work and veil tricks. I didn't really get that. I got some things, but not enough. That's why I rate this 3.If you are a beginner and you like "romantic belly dance," this DVD would probably be good for you. She takes you through things slowly and talks to you like she's one of the Barbies from the Toy Story movies.

Great collection of Christmas songs for guitar. The DVD is clear, upfront, and the close ups of the left and right hand are invaluable. It is like paying for expensive guitar lessons that can be used over and over. What a great product for the Summer months! Learn the songs and be ready for Christmas to entertain friends and relatives. This is a level 2, which means that you should already be familiar with the basic chords. Happy Traum's personality comes across warm and encouraging on DVD. Homespun has built an excellent reputation for excellence.

Again, this artist puts out such beautiful videos. The costumes are beautiful, the setting is goregeous. These are things that a lot of videos don't have and I really enjoy this kind of beauty. While i enjoyed the presentation and the way this artist expresses her intention, i did not enjoy the choreography. However, this is a great video for getting the imagination going and creating your own story. This is a good DVD for begginers who would like to transiton from basic movement into dancing with a veil. All levels of dancers may be interested in the imagination this artist taps into.

Sarah is a superb dancer and instructor and her costumes are a show in themselves. She provides challenge where it should be -on improving your own fitness , grace, and skill-not where it shouldn't be on trying to figure out how to do it or see what she is doing. She is one of my 3 favorite belly dancers. And her DVDs are always tops in every way.

While most of Miss Skinner's dvd's are put together with solid dance information,I was not impressed with this one. It really was not a 7 veil dance. However her instruction is pure. I was hoping for a new twist to the seven veils and feel she came up short. I'm not sure how scarfs work for a belly dance routine as it felt like she was trying to have seven pieces of materials. However the red veil covering was interesting.

I enjoyed watching the wide variety of performances on this disc. It covers individual performances and a group rendition with touches of costuming and even a private version danced for a man, very tastefully done. Sara is a very polished and skillful dancer with a wonderful sense of humour and warmth that resonates through this. All of this within an instructional DVD makes me a fan. It is the mystery of the seven veils unwrapped!
