the design is flawed
I have bought a bunch of these before realizing that this is a crappy design. When you hook it up make sure that you leave the output side clear just to test it before hooking up the watering pipe. Turn on the water to the solenoid, then open the manual screw. Water should flow. Now close the manual screw. For me it never fully shuts off completely. Trickle trickle. Once you hook up the output pipe you would never notice this, but it wastes a TON of water over time. Most people will not notice this because they hook up their system first and then test it. Last summer it took a $250 water bill for me to realized the orbit version was the culprit. So I tried a different orbit, still leaked, then tried this Lawn Genie. Still leaks. The manufacturer probably figures that most people won't notice, so why bother to fix the flaw in the design that prevents it from shutting off properly? It is just like having a dripping faucet or running toilet. Over time it adds up. I am done with these two brands.
