Yes, the edges are sharp but it is as accurate as my machinist's squares
After rounding off the edges, I used it on a project yesterday and was impressed by the solid feel and that the ruler stayed where it was set. I like that the metric and inch scales are on the same side of the rule, I just wish it was like that on the other side. I also like the scribe being screwed in, not a pressure fit.

Yes, this square is an upgrade
This square is slightly thinner and slightly longer than the regular square. Although it looks chunky, I find it to be just as ergonomic as any square, and the weight is essentially identical. It must be hollowed out.The reference face on the square isn't perfectly ground, but that's par for the course on all of these inexpensive squares. The slide is solid and straight and has precision ground edges. The bolt and nut are brass. The nut is very large and has good knurling. It's a pretty big chunk of brass, which is nice. Everything works exactly like it should. Accuracy is good out of the box. The bubble level is large, bright, and easy to read. It appears to be cast into a solid block of resin.Con: The one and only drawback to this square is the nut/bolt/spring shoots out if you remove the slide. This is easy to remedy. Takes about 10 minutes. Then this is the perfect square. If you are curious how, just ask. Other than this quirk, there is nothing to complain about.

Accurate and sturdy
As noted by others, the edges on the body are sharp but easily remedied with some 300 grit sandpaper. Tool seems to be well made (surprisingly, made in China) and sturdy. Only other minor complaint, wish the scribe was attached some other way then screw in (or the threads could be shorter), bit of a pain to screw in and out often.

Very Good Square with Smooth Operation
This is a wonderful combination square. It was square, according to an engineer's square I checked it with. It is lightweight, and the stop glides very smoothly in the channel on the ruler. The knob in the stop handle, or whatever it is called - you know - the orange thing, works well, is easy to turn, and is smooth. No break-in burrs or rough spots in the ruler channel or the screw device. The marking pin stuck in the bottom seems well attached. I don't think it will easily become dis-attached from the tool.Of course, the main thing about a combination square is the numbers and the measuring marks. First of all, they are where they should be. The one inch mark in actually right on one inch. No one shaved a 64th off the end during manufacture. Second, the numbers and marks are easy to read. For a fellow as old as I am, that is a big deal. The numbers are the same size as most squares, but they are distinct. If I have a complaint it is that one side of the ruler is metric. I suppose this is OK for those who have to switch back and forth between the old inch system and the newer metric system. I don't like doing that and usually avoid the metric system. My saw isn't marked in metric and I can't imagine having to transfer the numbers from one system to the other. So, one-half of the ruler is not useful to me.Otherwise, a great combination square.AD2

Highest quality combo sq. In this price bracket.
Bought this because it was a brand I knew and it was really cheap but when I got it I was really surprised by the quality, it has a brass set screw that I'm sure will last longer than the aluminum ones that empire uses and the machining on it is really nice the level is inset in the handle and inside a clear plastic so you don't have to worry about the lines wearing off like they have on my empire and irwin squares there isnt a coating on the blade so you don't have to worry about it getting cloudy like the Johnson blades. Very pleased with the quality and weight and how rigid the set screw is. It works with my other blades so I plan on ordering more just for the heads.

Decent Value
Edges on body are very sharp. Be prepared to sand or file them all.The bore hole for the blade clamp bolt is too big and the bolt, spring, and nut fall out completely when the blade is removed. Have to be ready to catch the spring as it falls out. easy to lose. Other squares I have retain the bolt in the body so they dont fall out. overall, im happy it is pretty square.

A great, basic Combination Square
At the price there's little need to take great care of this square, very accurate for framing and such and the scale is easy to read. The adjuster works well. They are just a bit uncomfortable because the corners are very crisp... kind of a by-product of extruded re-machined aluminum. Not a big deal by any means. If accuracy is mission critical the $150 Starrett is awesome, but I throw mine into a tool box heading for a jobsite. Those stay in my shop.

Not square
The square is not 90 degrees. Any other function is useless if the main function is not delivered. Also the cm scale is only on one side of the ruler, not both.
