Kohler GM77177-KP2 Load Control Module with Terminal Block

Designed for use with smaller generators, the Kohler GM77177-KP2 load control module (LCM) helps manage higher electrical loads. During a power outage your home's power source will transfer over to generator power, at which point the load control module kicks in, cycling some circuits on and off to prevent power overload.

The load control module is designed to work with Kohler single-phase residential/commercial generator sets that are equipped with the RDC2 or DC2 controller and an automatic transfer switch. This includes the following generator set models:

14RESA and 14RESAL
20RESA and 20RESAL
38RCL and 48RCL (single-phase only)

The load control module provides an automatic load management system to comply with Section 702.5 of NEC 2008. The installer is responsible for ensuring that the power system installation complies with all applicable state and local codes.

The load control module automatically manages up to six residential loads. Four power relays are provided for management of non-essential secondary loads, and two relays are available to control two independent heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) loads.

The power relays are rated 50 A @ 240 VAC. A maximum of two 50 amp loads and two 40 amp loads may be connected. The HVAC relays are limited to 2 A @ 30 VAC.

Note: Connect only non-essential loads to the load control module.

Load Management

The Load Control Module (LCM) sheds loads to prevent generator overload, in compliance with NEC 2008.
The LCM monitors generator current and frequency to determine when to shed loads. This monitoring prevents frequency drops that can damage valuable electronics like computers and televisions.
Load management with the LCM allows the use of a smaller generator set.

Priority Setting

Loads are added and shed according to their priority. Load 1 is the top priority, which is added first and shed last. Load 6 is the lowest priority.
Less critical loads can be turned off automatically when essential appliances are running.
Load priorities are hard-wired at installation.

The LCM can be used with Kohler generator sets equipped with the RDC2 or DC2 controller.

Available with two wiring options:
With 2-foot color-coded pre-wired harness for easy installation of the LCM next to the distribution panel.
With terminal block connections for installation of the LCM in any location.
UL listed.
CSA certification is available.
