PIPEtalk Fits Large RAND Solar Oven Evacuated 5"-Selling Only Tray 3.75x22 w/Therm

I love my Rand Solar Tube and hate that it didn't come with it's own cooking tray. Kudos to PIPEtalk for designing a tray that so perfectly fits the solar tube for cooking. Love the thermometer, too. So why did I deduct one star? Well, for starters, the heavy wooden handle pulls down on the tray creating a small gap at the top of the plate and the solar tube. This allows heat to escape which lengthens the cooking time significantly. I remedied this with a small, thin elastic cord that I loop under the handle and attach to the stand I made to hold my solar tube when cooking. Second, the nut an bolt that holds the thermometer rusted from the cooking steam with just two uses. This rust drips in the tray and discolors it, not to mention ….mmm, I don't want it I my food. Yeah, you can clean it each time, but for the price of the tray, that's a cumbersome maintenance. Besides, at the rate these rust, this means that nut and bolt aren't going to last long ( cook a lot with my Solar Tube). Which brings me to the third reason for deducting a star - I just think the tray is too expensive. That said, the tray does do its job and I love cooking with my Rand Solar Tube.

I just got this insert for my Rand Solar tube, and the build quality is 5 stars! I am a stickler for quality, and looked this thing over for ANY obvious flaws, and there were none to be found. Excellent craftsmanship by obviously fine and caring people.

Very happy with my tray, use it for demonstrations of solar cooking plus my daily cooking needs. So much easier than using that rubber plug that came with the evacuated tube. I mean honestly, if I didn't have this pull-out tray how would I get food into and out of the cooker, by pushing and pulling at it with tongs? That sounds horribly stressful. This has made my solar oven into something extremely convenient that I use for pretty much all of my oven cooking, I've cooked lasagna, veggies, breads, all kinds of things in it. All you have to do is line this tray with parchment paper, or foil, or use disposable loaf pans from the dollar store. This tray makes it very easy, for example, do you have corn you'd like to roast? Just put the cobs, skins and all on the tray, and slide them in the oven. done. Do you want to cook some sweet potatoes? Load them on the tray, slide them in the oven. Do you want to make rice for dinner? Load the rice and water in a loaf pan, cover with foil, put it on the tray, load it in the oven. I can't imagine my solar oven tube without this tray. Despite what others have experienced mine is completely waterproof. Purchased in 2018.

the tray is a good unit. HOWEVER it will not hold water or soup without leaking....that is fact. I am THE authority on these ....and the cookers as well. i use these daily to cook INCREDIBLE meals. (today i made a video) youtube homeless fragrance reviews....look for the most recent (2019) videos. again...I am the authority on these.....i know EVERYTHING about them...backwards...fowards...upside down ...inside out...and have broken 2 units...YES they WILL break....unless you know what you are doing.....that you can be sure of. I STRONGLY advise you to go to my youtube station.....and watch my latest cooking videos using this cooker. IF U HAVE A FAMILY GREATER THAN 2....THEN BUY 2 TRAYS FOR EVERY GLADS. OOKER YOU HAVE. ADDITIONAL TRAYS WORK WELL BCZ THEY CAN BE PRE LOADED AND EASILY LOADED INTO GLASS UNIT. ON FULL SUN DAYS....THE OVENS ARE CAPABLE OF 2 SEPERATE COOKINGS. SO TAKE MY ADVICE AND BUY 2 OF THESE TRAYS FOR EA COOKER. PUT 2 OR 3 SHEETS OF ALUMINUM FOIL IN THE TRAYS....BECOME A WORLD CLASS COOK.....AND I AINT KIDDIN NEITHER.....
