great for hand-written recipes
I bought seven of these for Christmas and wrote out recipes for all of my family. there is plenty of room to write down all of the directions for a recipe-even more involved recipes. The pages were a nice thickness and the book itself was not too big-it was about the size of a Mead notebook. It is also nice that because it has a spiral binding, you can easily access your recipe and keep it open. There are tabs to differentiate between each section which was helpful. There were only two things I didn't really like about the book: one, there is no place to insert a recipe card, so if you already have the recipe written out you can't tuck it into the book somewhere. This recipe book is strictly for recipes you want to write out by hand. Second, on the front cover, the framed piece which looks like wood (which is actually cardboard) comes in different colors and you can't choose which color you want. I initially bought five of these books and got the pretty purple color you see on the product advertised. However, when I send out for two more, I got yellow frames which weren't nearly as nice looking. I would've preferred to be able to choose what color was on the front cover but other than that, I was very pleased with this purchase.

Very nice cookbook
I got 2 of these, one for me and one for my 8 year old daughter. I realized that I never had a physical Recipe book for all the different dishes our family makes and some of those recipes my late mother passed on to me from generations passed. I didn't want any chance of those being lost and not continuing to be passed down. This book is thoroughly prompted, all the way down to "hard to find items." There are plenty of lines on the back of each page if needed for longer recipes, or just to leave notes to remind/warn against unexpected occurrences when cooking. The cover is perfectly sturdy and the ring binding is much better than a cookbook with a spine. Highly recommend.

I love this book!
I've been looking all over for an easy blank cookbook, but I haven't been able to find one before this, and it's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. A blank cookbook, big enough to write all my weird and detailed notes, it's really nice quality but nothing über fancy, AND it's recycled material! (Ok so I might be being a little bit picky, but I wanted something other than a regular journal, plain notebook, or a cover with a rooster or something lame on it) I love the little pre-printed sections where it leaves space for things like "Servings", "Prep time", and even "Hard to find ingredients" which is awesome, because I have immigrant in-laws, so I end up with a lot of really good recipes that call for obscure ingredients. *NOTE ON THE TABS* I feel like other reviewers were a little upset that the "tabs" advertised in the description weren't actually TAB-tabs that stick out from the pages, but they are in fact pre-printed box sections that say "Appetizers", "Main dishes", "Sides, Soups and Salads", and "Desserts". If you look closely in the pictures in the description you can see them, THEY ARE PRINTED ON THE PAGE, NOT TABS THAT STICK OUT. But this is still a great personal cookbook!

Leaving a legacy for my daughter
My daughter is always asking for my recipes now that she's moved out on her own. I have a handwritten book but also recipes cards, recipes taped to the insides of my cabinets, recipes in a Word doc. So, I was looking for something that I could compile all of these together for her in one place and this journal was PERFECT. Spiral-bound so you can open it out fully, thick and sturdy cardboard covers that will really last, good-sized pages to write in and it has sections so you can keep main dishes, desserts, etc. together. She now has recipes from me, both of her grandmothers, one of her grandfathers, an uncle and all of her aunts! I got an archival ink pen and wrote everything out by hand but you could easily type them up and glue them in. She was very touched on Christmas morning!

Good recipe book, but note the color swap
Book looks sturdy, and the spiral is a bonus because keeping a paperback open while cooking would not be fun. Taking off 1 star though because the frame around the title is advertised as a purple, but as you can see in my picture, it's the color of wood. I don't particularly care about this switch, and in fact the natural wood color looks far better, but for those of you who might have been deadset on the color palette, it could come as a disappointment. Other than that, item arrived in good condition and the pages are quite sturdy. Book is also a bit heavy.

Great recipe book !
I love this book. I’ve been keeping recipes in my phone which is a pain to try and read from. This book is exactly what I needed to keep all my good recipes in one place. More than enough room for writing the ingredients and directions. I only wish there were a table of contents w page numbers so you can easily find what your looking for. Other than that, this hard cover spiral bound book is perfect

Great starter recipe book!
The good: I really like this cooking journal! The front had a very thick cover so it's easily protected from spills. The pages are a little thicker also so your writing isn't ghosted on the next page! I love the authentic old cookbook feel I kind of got with it!The bad: The only problem I had is where you're supposed to write the directions for the actual recipe. It's a paragraph long. The back page can be used, and I do use it, but the book itself says "notes". Just feel like it would have made more sense to put a continuation of the directions there instead.
