Surprisingly good, accurate sound. Perfect way to get started with the handpan.
Just got it so I'm still learning but if you're like me and you just want to experience and learn the handpan, this is a winner. It's 10% of the cost of a custom built instrument which - of course - I assume would be a lot better quality. But if you just want to learn the instrument, what you want is something that has good sound and accurate notes, and this "cheap Chinese product" seems to check those boxes. I also have a steel tongue drum, which I love, but the handpan is much more intimate - played with the hands so it's a beautiful intersection of human touch and man-made instrument. They can say these are just cheap Chinese products, but when you look at the underside you can see the hand made markings and you can see all the small hammer pings made when tuning it. There is no way to just produce a handpan on a manufacturing line - it must be made with hands and this clearly was. Is it the best one ever? Of course not. Is it acceptable to learn the instrument? ABSOLUTELY.

WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD!
GREETINGS!I LUV THESE DRUMS, BUT THE PRICES OF THE REALLY GOOD ONES NOT SO MUCH! BUT TRUTH IS EXPENSIVE OR CHEAP THEY CAN ALL GO OUT OF TUNE WITH THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE! BUT THAT SAID IT IS NOT DIFFICULT TO TUNE ONE! AND SO BEING MUSICAL AND MECHANICALLY INCLINED I OPTED FOR A CHEAPER ONE (TWO ACTUALLY) AND WILL TUNE IT TO THE AVERAGE TEMP WHERE I END UP! NO BIG DEAL. BUT I LUV THE WAY THESE SOUND! HELL I BOUGHT TWO OF THEM! AND WHETHER IT BE MY GIRLFRIEND OR WIFE (HAVE NEITHER RIGHT NOW) OR THEIR KIDS, IT'S A GREAT WAY TO LOSE STRESS AND CHILL. WHEN YOU FIDDLE WITH ONE YOU MELLOW AND GET COMPLETELY LOST IN IT, AND FORGET ALL WHAT'S TROUBLING YOU! AND THAT LEADS TO A LONGER AND HAPPIER LIFE! MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL...

A cozy little instrument
Love this cozy little instrument, it comes with a nice assortment of gear like a carrying case, 2 sticks, a manual with some nice instructions and music sheets. The notes are numbered for easy learning how to play, the metal its made out of is very nice and can easily withstand being left outside in the rain. Love this thing! My only small gripe is that I found I had to tighten the netting around the drum.

Nice quality attractive instrument, excellent carrying case
I didn’t even know that this “instrument“ existed until about a month ago, interestingly enough. I saw a concert with someone playing one of these. So when I saw this come up, I thought well I’ve gotta get one. I’m a classical musician who plays other instruments professionally, so this sort of hipster beardy dude thing is somewhat not in my wheelhouse.Nonetheless, this instrument seems to be very well made, is very attractive, and is very in tune for our western tuning systems. If it’s not at A440, it is very close (I didn’t check with a tuner, but I have “perfect pitch”.) The little stand to display it is nice, although as the literature reminds you, this is not how it’s actually played – you’re supposed to just hold it on your lap like the pictures of the pensive man-bun beardy dude in the brochure (yeah, he ticks all the boxes!) It comes with a few accessories, including mallets for testing the tuning or if you’re just bad at playing the thing, I guess, as well as a cleaning rag and a very nice carrying bag.My one tiny minor wish is that the carrying bag had an external pocket to hold the cleaning cloth and a couple of other things. But this is a minor gripe. The carrying case is nicely padded and very well-made, with both a handle and backpack straps, so you have a couple options to carry this thing around while keeping your hands free for the bag that holds your ocarina, hacky sack, and beard comb, perhaps.I don’t know that I will get a lot of use out of this, and I may eventually gift it to the local artist that I saw playing it, because it seems very much like a quality instrument. But it is a very interesting and attractive thing just to display in the house to say “I’m this sort of person“. Which I enjoy, I guess, even ironically.

Beautiful Instrument
This steel tongue drum is beautiful! The sound is so soft and pure. I love that it came with rubber mallets included in the box. I enjoyed that it came with a booklet with a few songs and how to play them in the box. Quick out of the box set up and playing within minutes. Learning the songs from the book takes some time but once you get the hang of it this instrument makes such beautiful and relaxing music!

Nice 15-note steel tongue drum
I like this 15-note steel tongue drum. The blue color is really nice and I like the woven belt around the rim that helps dampen some of the unwanted overtones. The only problem is that the upper notes on the smaller tongues are difficult to get good sounds out of.
