It works! NoPigeons on my balcony
This is the only product that works to keep the pigeons away from or anyway near my balcony to be able to poop on it. I’ve used it for two years and had to replace it to ensure that the pigeons would not come back. (Supposed to last for two years). While expensive, it’s definitely worth the money. The only downside is that flies and other flying insects get stuck to the gel and looks kind of yucky. But I’ll take that over pigeons and their droppings any time!!Love this product!

Works best in tandem with other bird prevention tools.
1. This product was purchased specifically for the invasive Eurasian Doves that keep trying to nest (and poop, and coo) in the rafters of a patio. My family is totally new to problems like this! Fighting doves and having a balcony.2. I read ALL the reviews & really appreciated them - especially from hit weather climate folks! Thanks, everyone!3. The dishes are relatively easy to install, though I had to get on a ladder, AND I bought a strong liquid glue (LocLite Premium 3X) to be 100% sure they stuck -- the included double-sided tape *does* help with positioning...but I would not rely on it for outdoor use.4. It's true, the gel doesn't SMELL bad! Kind of like spice & orange, more like a bathroom freshener, BUT THE BIRDS *HATE* IT!!Unfortunately, the deterant effect wears off quickly.5. SPACING: At first, I put up two per 16" gap; that kept the doves away for three weeks! Then...the Eurasian Doves started to come to the railing or land BETWEEN the sticky discs (or "dishes", as referred to by The Bird Free instructions). So, I put up one more per 16" space = THREE on each balcony gap (btwn the support beams). Fortunately, the Bird Free comes with more dishes. By the way...the "sticky" doesn't wash off easily if it gets on your HANDS (use dishwasher fluid and a nail brush), but it also doesn't sting or stink, and any residue will be gone by the next day.THREE DISCS kept the birds away for another week...it wore off faster this time. After that, they STILL landed on the narrow available gaps left on that patio rafter! Argh! Stubborn, ain't they?!So. I had to put FOUR "dishes" per 16 inch space, leaving ZERO room for the doves to land. They also got sticky feet covered in gloop if they stepped on the disc (since there was NO OTHER PLACE TO LAND at this point) -- which did make them fly away. NOTE: you may find sticky gloop on the patio railing or elsewhere. A small price to pay and Clorox Clean-up will take that off, if necessary.6. ADDITIONAL BIRD PREVENTION DEVICE: With as many "Bird Away" discs/dishes in the balcony rafters as I could fit..the scent only fully spooked them away for three days. The Eurasian Doves still came, though far less, and they were spreading gloop -- especially to the railing. (photograph: see railing on neighbor's balcony)So, I also bought the sonic "Bird X" device that I had been reading about (see my review there). This was to cover the middle area of the balcony, at least."The Bird X", combined with "Bird Away", finally worked!!!! The doves took a hint and if they still tried to get in the rafters...the sticky feet made them leave (not nest, or mess, OR make their unpleasant call -- loudly in the morning).7. KEEP THE BIRDS YOU *DO* WANT: none of the bird prevention devices have negatively prevented our humming birds from drinking from feeders hung from the same ceiling rafters (which were often intimidated by the Eurasian doves, who are gigantic to them).8. Came with EXCELLENT explanatory instructions (see photograph).

All my neighbors are asking me about this.. it works! And it's cruelty free.
This is a fascinating product and comes with a very detailed sheet that describes all the ways it effectively repels pigeons. We had them bad. We called pest control and had the coves (little cubbies) caged off, as well as spikes installed. $700 later, it kept the pigeons out of that immediate area, but guess what? They just started roosting and loafing directly next to that.I wanted a cruelty-free option though, and something that's eco-safe. I took a chance on these and I'm so glad I did. They're individually sealed cups and very easy to stick up anywhere. They look like little shallow cups of jello. We had a great neighborhood handyman get up on the roof and stick them around. It was so interesting to see the birds try to land around the cups and then take off and turn their heads in confusion. It works!!The smell is kind of citronella/pepperminty for the first few days. I've placed them around my patio table, because the birds were actually sleeping on the table before. They haven't been back! My neighbors have all asked about this product and I send them the direct link to these. Though they are pricey, they are actually a better value than the other kind featured here on Amazon. I'm so glad we discovered this product. Here are some additional tips that I've accumulated during our pigeon struggle : Make sure you eliminate water sources (pigeons will come for swimming pools too) . Try to install spikes in combination with these cups. Also, try to spray the water hose at the birds - it doesn't hurt them, they just learn not to hang around the area. You may have to be diligent with this for a couple of weeks, but it really helps. If the hose will reach, spray them right off the roof. These gel cups aren't harmed by water, so don't worry about getting them a little wet.

They work!
They were easy to install and we haven’t had any roosting birds or bird poop on our patio. We tried other bird deterrents but they did not work. Highly recommend these disks.

It really works: Updated Feb 2020
UPDATE:It is that time of year, and we just saw the birds return to try and start building their nest. They came in close then tried landing on their normal nesting location. They hopped around for a few seconds and left. Pretty impressive considering the gel is the same set I put up almost a year ago.____________________________________________________________________So I am generally skeptical of claims of invisible optical flames but whatever it does, this stuff really works. For years I have had birds return to build a nest underneath our retractable awning. I tried wind chimes but that did not work. I looked at some gels but that seems really messy especially over time. Bird Busters seemed more controllable but it is still something that can be very messy as the gel is rather viscous and can easily spill out of the container once it is opened. I placed several units about 2 ft apart. Voila, no birds nest. Today I saw a bird fly in and actually perch where they normally build their nest. After hopping back and forth a few times, it stared at the gel container on both sides trying to find a location, it flew away and did not return.
