Tamper Tool Compatible for Vitamix Classic 64-Once Containers | NutriGear Accelerator Tool for Vitamix Blenders

I hope this saves somebody some time. To assure I ordered a compatible plunger I had to research a bit on Amazon-I purchased this plunger a few months ago but if I correctly recall what I learned through research (according to an Amazon reviewer) the Vitamix 5200 is a non-standard/lite version Costco special. My Costco/Vitamix 5200 has an 8 Cup/ 2 Liter pitcher if that helps. This plunger seems to be the correct replacement for that model as it fits tightly through the rubber cap opening so no splashing out the top and I cannot make it touch the blades if I try, yet it is long enough to tamp food correctly. Seems good and is not damaged on top rack in dishwasher even using steam or extra heat cycles.

I went freelance and bypassed the lid while making my morning smoothie in my beloved Vitamix. My son engaged me in some type of, "Can I have $20" conversation right during my all important blending process. The lid with the hole serves a couple of important functions including dropping your ingredients through as well as stopping the tamper from entering the angry and relentless blades of steel. But I had this under control because I'm an expert blender...until I looked up at my son and...BRAARRR. The tamper makes contact with the blades of death. There are no reflexes too fast to avoid the certain destruction of the all important tamper. I pulled it out and looked at the giant gapping hole in the bottom of my tamper, next casting my glare towards my son eyes that said, "you S.O.B. look at what you made me do!" He wisely ran out the door laughing his a$$ off! The replacement is just like my original one...less the carnage.

There used to be a version of these tamper tools that were extremely flimsy. The tops would come off due to how bad the glue was. But these ones are no longer an issue. It looks as if the top and the stick piece are all combined into one unit, so no longer does anything snap off.If you work with younger staff, they have a tendency to leave the lids off blenders when using these, they WILL chip and break apart if you hit the blades with them. But if you leave the lid on firmly, you'll be fine and nothing will hit the blades. The tool does a great job at pushing down hard to blend items and mixing things around. Pretty much perfect for what it's used for.

I would recommend that you don't run your Vita-mix when you are half asleep! I accidentally put the tamper in first and then put the top over it! OMG. Let's just say that the Vita-mix can take just about anything down! Enter the new tamper I had to order to replace the mangled mess of the old one! This one is just like the original except a little shinier and the word Vita mix is not around the flat part of the top of it. It works great. Beware of the size that you might need. I got our Vita mix at Costco and bought this one which is the regular size not the smaller one.

I see lots of reviews on this and similar products saying that it is too short. It says for "Classic" Vitamixes, so maybe theirs isn't what they consider classic. Mine is at least 12 years old. Model 4500. The length was fine. I accidentally used my original tamper without the lid on, and the blades destroyed it. That was years ago so I can't compare the new one to it. I didn't realize I could buy a replacement for $10 until recently.

I needed a replacement as I was not careful and did not use the rubber cover as instructed. I pushed the tamper down too far while bending and the powerful blades quickly chipped off a piece. No one should ever need a replacement if follow safety rules.

This is an excellent replacement if you ever mistakenly blend your original tamper tool along with your smoothie. It fits and does the same great job as the one that came along with the vitamix blender.

Bought this for a replacement for the commercial grade vitamix that we use at my work. On the first use it hit the blade and broke. Seems to be slightly too long.
