PrepSolutions Microwaveable Bacon Grill, Cooks 7-9 Pieces of Crispy Bacon

I'll admit to being a little doubtful whether or not the PrepSolutions Microwaveable Bacon Grill would work but I was tired and frustrated with using paper towels. It's wasteful, messy, and I wasn't getting even cooking leaving me with both partly burned and partly undercooked bacon. It was very unsatisfying. I took a chance on the PrepSolutions Microwaveable Bacon Grill and I am very happy I did. The bacon turns out great. It was cooked evenly across the board with no splatter in the microwave. It's easy to lift the top part of the grill to check on progress. My microwave is on the smallish side, not tiny or anything like that, but not a full size either. Still, the Grill fit perfectly on the turntable. Of course one does have to clean the PrepSolutions Microwaveable Grill instead of throwing it away like I did with paper towels, but it's really easy to clean. It's like having two extra dishes- not a big issue. Plus you can actually collect some of the bacon grease which is great for all kinds of cooking. That my bacon turned out great makes this worth buying on it's own. Adding all the savings on paper towels, easier cleaning, and getting some bacon grease to boot and I feel very comfortable recommending this produce to anyone looking for to ditch the paper towel.

Item works great, it looks nice, it was a little pricey, but I was able to drain and retain the grease with no problem. It was a little hard to clean because I cooked 24 ounces of bacon at one time before cleaning, but from now on, I'll clean it after I cook a pan after every batch. It's hard to rate the durability after one use, but I think the problem with the durability in the reviews is because the instructions say to cook the bacon at 80% power for microwaves over 800w. So far it is working fine. I'm giving it 5 stars because even with minor problems, it worked fine for what I wanted to do.

This product consequently cooks perfect bacon (adjusting the minutes to your preference and how you like your bacon cooked). I've pan fried using a bunch of techniques (water evaporation, different temperatures, grill types, etc.,) as well as several oven baking techniques and this simple contraption nested them all in the "Microwave"! Seriously, I can't really tell that it was cooked in the microwave by the taste. I've tried a few 'in the microwave' cooking product, but this one (especially for the price) does a great job! The spatter-proof lid is essential or you'll be dealing with grease ALL OVER the inside of your microwave. It's a pain to clean up. The only downside to this particular unit is the clean-up. The grease pours out nicely, but it some of the grease and bacon drippings get crusted onto the tray. Not the end of the world, but I do have to get a scrub brush and spend about 10 minutes rigorously cleaning it. It if wasn't for this, I would have given it 5 stars. If you purchase this unit, I wouldn't recommend trying to scrape it with a metal scraper, and while a plastic scraper might seem like a good idea, it really wont get the sides of the grill walls very well. The best method I've found (besides popping it into the dishwasher after an initial once over) is to get some hot water running and then holding it sideways under it while scrubbing it with a plastic scrub brush. It takes a little bit of time, but works faster than trying to scrape it first or letting it soak and then creating some cleaning concoction I've read about (seriously, as if I had all the time in the world for cleaning something I'm actually cooking with in the microwave!). I'm lazy, but I do love my bacon!

I love bacon, but not a fan of the grease mess. This is a game changer since it has the lid, for microwaving. And yes, the bacon turns out great! I can get 5 pieces on this tray (I buy the thick bacon). And I use fewer paper towels to sop up the grease since it drains into the grooves. Easy to clean.

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT! Crisp bacon, no more babysitting the bacon as it cooks and no more curly pieces that stick to the pan! Easy to pour the grease into a container (to use in other cooking). Dishwasher safe and hassle free clean-up. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

It certainly functions as it should, but the handle doesn't protrude high enough, so it's hard to remove. Especially because hot steam is emitting, and the moisture almost creates a seal, making the lid harder to remove. The short grip makes it difficult. It should be taller.

Cooks great and is easy to clean. I put a paper towel under the bacon and another paper towel on top and the bacon comes out crisp and perfect. I love that they are dishwasher safe.

UPDATING 2026: I went ahead and moved this up to a 5-star review simply due to the longevity of these trays. The previous bacon cooker that the company sent to me back in 2017 as a replacement, got dropped from a higher than usual angle and hit the tile floor and a huge chunk of the side fell off resulting in my needing to replace it once again. We had bought a couple of different ones from other companies in the last few years since the 2017 one I got had cracked a bit in a corner and had a small piece break on the side, but one of those melted underneath where the bacon was resting and I worried about plastic residue in our food so I trashed that one. Another one was way too small. You could only fit 3 pieces of bacon lengthwise and they still draped over the top, plus it was silicone so it was very "bendy" which makes it hard to carry afterwards when it has hot liquid bacon fat. I searched my previous orders so I could come back and get another one of these since it lasted almost 10 years in our clumsy household. NOTE: I forgot all about "decreasing" the temperature we use to cook with and the replacement stopped cracking, and functioned just fine for the remaining years. When I came in here to update the review I saw that, but since it lasted almost 10 years, it basically amounts to a $2/year purchase so I'm not too concerned. I am, however, going to buy another one to keep on hand for when this one eventually needs replacing 10 years from now! Excellent, sturdy, nice long bacon tray. I have a smaller than average countertop microwave and it fits and turns just fine. It cooks bacon perfectly. No hot spots, like I said long enough for entire pieces of bacon to fit the length of the tray. Sometimes there is a little overlap depending on how long a particular bacon slice stretches when peeling them apart but I just curl the ends back on themselves. I have seen some people twist them into a spiral. I might do that sometime just for fun. The deeper grooves makes steaming, defrosting, etc. work great on this tray. UPDATING THIS AS OF 2017: When calling to inquire about how these seem to crack for no reason, I just found out that apparently you are supposed to turn the power level down when using these bacon cookers. I have been cooking using 100% power this entire time, so the customer service rep told me to try using 80% power or even 50% when cooking the bacon and just cook it for longer because the higher heat can make them crack. Apparently this was printed on a sleeve that the cooker came in, but I didn't even remember seeing that. So they are sending me a new one. Even after a year of use and even after me admitting I was using the wrong heat setting. That is great customer service. She told me to use the new one at a lower setting and see if it would hold up longer than a year or so before cracking. Bought this to replace another one similar to this I had bought that cracked when we dropped it several times. I love this tray, but I still end up having to use paper towels under the bacon because otherwise there is so much grease it spills out into the microwave when I go to pick up the pan. However, with the pan, paper towels and the lid, no grease gets into the microwave that I can tell and the bacon cooks perfectly crispy the way I like it (you can adjust the # of seconds you cook it based on whether you prefer non-crispy partially cooked bacon versus well done extra crispy). This pan, however, also cracked slightly along one of the top edges even though it has not been dropped as far as I know (several of us in the house use it). Based on how well they function, and how inexpensive they are, however, I don't mind replacing them every few years and they work very well. I also use this for baking potatoes in the microwave, to place my corn on the cob when I steam it in there, and to place foods on for defrosting so that the air can circulate underneath.

I had read conflicting reviews about this item... some people loved it, some people said it was terrible to clean, some said it couldn't be put in the dishwasher, some said it cooked unevenly, etc. I took a chance and ordered it anyway because I was tired of having to take apart and clean my entire gas cooktop every time I cooked bacon (even with a spatter guard!). So, once I received this item, (which clearly states in two places on the packaging that it IS dishwasher safe), I ran it through the dishwasher, on the bottom rack, and it came out just fine - no warping, or deformation. Went ahead and put four full slices of bacon, (which fit perfectly - but probably could have squeezed in a 5th), and cooked as per the included instructions - 1 minute per slice, at 80% power. They came out close, but I put them on for an additional 1 minute on FULL power - and they came out almost perfect - I am sure I will reach perfection after tweaking the cooking times a couple more times. The strips stayed flat, and with almost no shrinkage! And they tasted great, without all the extra grease which stayed in the tray! As for cleanup, I decided to just hand wash - and it was a breeze! A little Dawn and hot water, and done - no 'scrubbing' whatsoever. I am VERY happy with this thing!! Highly recommend!

I tried for some time to find tray which is usable in a microwave with a firm base, this is the best I found by far. I microwave bacon and sausages and find it to be ideal.
