Auto Glass Urethane Windshield Adhesive, 08693, 10.5 fl oz Cartridge, Black

I got this urethane bc my son insisted i could handle fixing the loose windshield trim on my old ’08 Camry instead of paying the shop. The tube feels sturdy and the bead comes out thick, so move steady or it gets messy fast. I set my phone on a paint can and used the timer as a little “you can do it” coach while i ran one continuous line 😄. Once it cured, that glass has stayed put through a week of Texas heat and one huge thunderstorm. I’m glad every time i hit a pothole and don’t hear any rattling. 🚗

It works

Rear glass on 2002 tahoe hinge popped loose. Googled repairs and multiple sites recommended this adhesive. Removed rear glass cleaned area with alcohol after trimming old adhesive and roughing surfaces. Applied a generous amount of adhesive and pushed hinge into position. Clamped until the adhesive set enough so it wouldn't move after I removed the clamp maybe 10 minutes. Then Applied a sufficient amount of adhesive to the surface and feathered to help support the pressure from the piston. Be sure to drill out the old adhesive on the hinge to allow the adhesive to ooze through and create a good bond.

Sets fast

Repaired the rear window in my convertible after the factory glue failed and it fell out. Let me tell you...wear gloves folks. I thought it would be a quick bead of glue and on my way, but instead I had a fun fiasco of contortion trying to reach my window and squeeze this stuff out while stretch out across the trunk of my car and desperately trying to keep it from getting on my paint. I ended up with adhesive all over my hands and it took days to go away despite using various soaps including fast orange haha. This was not the fault of the product, it worked as intended, maybe it was a bit more viscous than I thought it would be as I cut the tip too small to easily allow it to be applied and had to squeeze the handle much harder than I figured they intended, causing lots of additional issues for myself. The adhesive itself is awesome. It went on fine, I gave it 48 hours to dry using suction cup clamps and some support from underneath. I have since taken it through a car wash and the seal seems to be holding fine. Top has been put down and up without any loss of adhesion. It's black colored so the parts I added a more than intended to do not show up unless under scrutiny. No complaints with it. Overall this product worked exactly as I expected it to and has held up so far. If anything changes I may update the review, but for now 5 stars!

Worked as it should and sealed my windshield saving me $600. I used one tube on a 2013 escape. Wear gloves and pierce more than one hole in the top because it’s very thick. Dried in about an hour at 80 degrees or at least skinned over

After I finished using this on a car window, I had enough left over to look for other uses. The first and best was for repairing torn tolex sections on a guitar amplifier. I had a pretty severe dent on the amp, bad enough to have pushed in the wooden cabinet and torn the black vinyl covering. This adhesive color matched perfectly and with a little careful smoothing made an invisible repair. I used the rest for furniture repairs. Update: June 2021. I've just ordered another tube for a rectangular guitar case restoration. The case is structurally intact but has torn and gouged corners and edges all the way around, and lots of ripped tolex. I'm sure this stuff will give the old case another 5-10 years of life, and at my age that's as good as forever. I'll take the advice of others and heat the tube to around 120-140 F before putting in the caulk gun this time. I'll try to have anything around the house that might need this type of gluing cleaned, lined up and ready because this stuff hardens up once it's been opened and I can't imagine how you'd get the tube flowing again unless you're willing to sacrifice a drill bit or maybe a piece of welding rod in the chuck would do the job. I'll wear rubber gloves and the oldest clothes I can find, because this stuff does indeed stain anything it touches black including skin. The skin stains can take weeks to wear off, and any clothing stains are permanent.
