Decision Analytics: Microsoft Excel Reprint Edition

Too many times, it seems that authors take concepts within analytics and simply toss out abstract formulas with an occasional mention of a few packaged routines. To me, that's not too helpful if you actually want to actually implement something. Given the prior reviews of this book, I decided to take a chance with Dr. Carlberg's book. I was pleasantly surprised!Dr. Carlberg does an excellent job of using concrete examples which are used to reinforce and clarify the concepts that he is presenting. In addition, he warns about common pitfalls and explains how to avoid them when performing an analysis. I strongly recommend downloading and carefully reviewing the accompanying Excel files while going through the book. It really helped me understand and appreciate the analysis and the mechanics. For those who are struggling to understand ANOVA and MANOVA, the examples in Chapters 3 & 4 are worth the price of the book. Cheers to Dr. Carlberg for his good work!

The downloaded (with macro) cannot be run properly. While I run the data, the error message "Subscript out of range (Error 9)" pop up.This can be run in Excel 2010; 2013; but not in latest Excel 2016Can any provide a cue for me? Thanks.John

Absolutely great book for not only understanding Excel, but also a great number of statistical concepts in general. Conrad does a great job of explaining a great number of concepts that are hard to find good books for. Excel frankly just provides a great learning and manipulation platform for the material. I would recommend this book for anyone diving into statistical methods, even if you eventually plan to use more robust analytical software such as R, SASS, etc.

It's so helpful to walk through the mechanics of the formulas. It's a great way to understand what's under the hood of many statistical techniques

Conrad has a great way of introducing a subject. I have all his books as well as his videos. Take the material slowly and you'll do just fine!

So sieht man mal : spezialisierte Software ist nicht wirklich notwendig für die Verarbeitung von Daten (da rede ich nicht von grosse Datenmengen oder ganz komplizierte Datenanalyse) : die meiste Betriebe und Personen können ihre Analysen in Excel machen. Und das stimmt. Ein sehr zugängliches Buch, deutlich geschrieben; gute Webseiten mit viele Beispiele und Modellen die den Kunde zur Verfügung stehen. Im kurzen, dieses Buch ist ein Vergnügen. Dazu kommt das der Autor gleichzeitig ein sehr guten Kursus Statistik und Entscheidungsanalyse gibt. Dieses Buch ist Teil von eine Serie wo ich auch "Statistical Analysis" und "Predictive Analytics" gerne empfehlen möchte.
