Buy this knife!!!
I purchased this knife to replace my broken M Tech knife (Don't buy M Tech). The knife arrived well packaged and on the date expected. The knife has some heft to it weight wise, the locking mechanism has a solid feel. The knife handle is great for wide hands, and it's nice to have a knife that fits my hand and doesn't look like a toy. The grip is good with either bare hands or gloves. The blade has stayed sharp and still locks open solid even after months of near daily use.I purchased this knife for opening boxes, cutting rope, opening salt bags and general utility use. It shows little signs of wear so far. I purchased the KA BAR sheath to allow easy access to the knife and I'm glad I did as this knife will consume half of your front pocket and has a decent weight to it.After all of the use I just noticed the edge has some small chipping on it. I will try to sharpen these out when I finally need to refresh the edge. The paint on the blade still looks good and no bare metal is showing there. Handle still looks great. I removed the small clip to allow the knife to go easier into the sheath.Buy this knife for yourself or as a gift for someone.Update: I have had this knife about 3.5 years and have used it for everything, as a pry bar, a screwdriver, staple remover, grout scraper, fingernail cleaner, drywall cutter, hope cutting, cardboard, splinter remover, etc. It's got some scratches on the blade now, the sheath is held together with staples, but every time someone sees this knife and uses it they are impressed. I have sharpened this knife dozens of times and it holds an edge fairly well dor what i put it through daily. I just cut an 8" hole through the lid of a 5 gallon bucket today, easily I might add... and I'm sure I'll abuse the knife in some way again tomorrow. I bought this as a cheap utility pocket knife hoping for it to last a few years. It has far exceeded my expectations and I have grown really fond of it.I'm a fan of American made products, but you can't go wrong with this knife. Trust me you won't be disappointed. I am going to be buying another one for my 15yr old son and another for me to put away.It really is a great knife!

Simple, Rugged, Safe, Value
The Ka-Bar Mule is a no nonsense every day carry workhorse. The G-10 handle reminds me of carbon fiber, quite the departure from a smooth plastic or composite. The handle has a nice rough texture that allows the user to maintain a sure grip regardless of sweat or environmental moisture. The pocket clip needed to be flexed away from the body of the knife so that it could be placed easier over a pocket. I have had the same issue with every other pocket clip equipped knife I ever owned, so this does not surprise me.Now onto the blade. This steel (3CR13 ss) is a Chinese made steel that is identical to 420J2.In terms of this G-10 Mule, Ka-Bar wanted to produce a product worthy of the brand and cut overhead costs to pass along value to the consumer. This means passing up on Zytel in favor of G-10 and passing up on AUS8 in favor of 3CR13. Relatively speaking money was saved in materials optioned though make no mistake, the G-10 Mule is not a cheaply made or poor performing pocket knife. Far from it. The construction is solid and rigid. Absolutely no play to be found and a loud click of the lockback says, "bring it."Edge sharpness is excellent out of the box. I particularly enjoy the thumb press grooves at the base of the spine of the blade when deployed. This unmentioned feature is not present on my Dozier Bobcat folder, a knife that is very similar in size and is equally useful but pricier. On that note, unless you simply want the Dozier as a folding companion to the Bull Dozier fixed blade, just save some money and get this G-10 Mule.As a note, I liked this Mule so much that I gifted 2 of my best friends their own of their choosing. If I lost or gifted my own, I would not hesitate to buy another for myself, even though I own a Dozier Bobcat. You can never have too many Ka-Bars.

Great Buy. Quality product at affordable price.
I purchased both the straight edge tanto and the serrated tanto. Both come in at a weight around 8oz. The blade is 4 inches long with an overall opened length of just over 9 inches. These are beefy knives made to withstand tough jobs. The blades are razor sharp from factory. You can't beat Ka Bar when it comes to producing quality no nonsense knives. My only concern about these knives is the long term aspect of metal quality. I am unfamiliar with the steel used in them(they are not AUS8). At this price range,(I paid $21.99 + shipping)it's not a big investment and well worth the purchase price. The locking mechanism is solid and thick. This knife is great as a general all around use knife.

Great knife but a near miss
I just received this knife today and it is really a great knife by K-Bar standards except that the THUMBSTUDS were bent and loose so I called Amazon and they are issuing a UPS pickup for return and credit. I never have an issue with Amazon.

Mule tanto.
I'm a fan of the Chinese Ka-Bar's. decent steel the blade is a partial flat grind although I think it was advertised as a hollow. the weight is good. fits the standard mule sheath (if you like). I knocked a star on account of the scales unfinished appearance. I also have the clip version and the scales feel better. This one looked like they cut and sanded the scales but never cleaned them. All things considered, it's exceptional EDC and well worth $30 or less which is what they are going for these days.

Its a ka-bar
Its a ka-bar, so its good quality. This is the second one ive bought, the first one still works. These knives can take a beating. Its been thrown, open, at trees, down stairs, in the dirt, and even tip first on the concrete. Not a single issue even after all that. I completely recommend this knife to anyone thinking of getting it.
